A few photographs from a recent visit to Lundy Island, where members of the JGP team were undertaking inspections and condition assessments of the island's access infrastructure between the Jetty and the village.
John Grimes Partnership has been involved with the engineering, inspection, and maintenance of Lundy's Beach Access Road for more than three decades. Our involvement stretches back to the early 1990s and includes the design of the jetty, the access road linking the jetty to Landing Beach, and numerous phases of improvement and stabilisation works along this critical route .
Set within a highly exposed marine environment, the island's infrastructure is subjected to continual weathering from them elements. Ongoing inspection, monitoring, and planned maintenance therefore remain essential to ensuring these assets continue to perform their vital role in supporting the island's operations and transport links.
As always, it was a pleasure to spend time on the island, review the condition of the infrastructure first-hand, and return to the office to revisit some of the original drawings and records that helped shape many of these structures over the last 30 years.
