The Big Win: Why Better Beats Bigger

We are incredibly proud to announce that we have officially secured a major new contract, winning the business away from a massive national distributor.

Taking on an industry giant is no small feat, but this win proves that agility and advocacy will beat "big and bureaucratic" every single time.

How we secured a contract with a National Laboratory from a large international wholesaler.

Due to repeated service failures the client went looking for a new supplier, and we delivered exactly what the incumbant couldn't.

Service That Actually Works. By dealing us with us, you work with the business owner, not an administrator, sales rep or manager who needs to get approvals. For regular customers we also hold stock, to eliminate stock outs.

The Price "Reality Check": There’s a common myth that the biggest distributors always have the lowest prices. We shattered that. By cutting out the corporate bloat and focusing on lean, efficient operations, we surprised the client with a cost structure that outperformed the national incumbent.

To obtain this benefit for your business, contact www.theconsumablescompany, [email protected] and be prepared to be surprised.

To the business owner currently staring at a mounting to-do list and wondering if it’s "just them"...
Let’s talk about something that doesn't make the highlight reel: The Bad Days.
Maybe your latest launch felt like a whisper in a crowded room. Maybe a client was difficult, or you made a mistake that cost you time you didn't have. On those days, it’s so easy to let "Imposter Syndrome" take the wheel and think: "This bad day is proof my business is failing."
But here is the truth: A bad day is a data point, not a destination.
Running a small business is personal. Your heart and soul are in the work, so a professional setback feels like a personal failure.
But remember:
🌱 Bad days reveal gaps. That mistake? It’s just showing you a process that needs a little polish.
💪 Bad days build grit. Resilience isn't built when things are easy; it's built when you choose to show up again the next morning.
☁️ Bad days provide contrast. You can’t truly appreciate the "Win Weeks" without the friction of the "Quiet Days."
Today’s mindset shift:
1. Zoom Out: One afternoon cannot erase a year of growth.
2. Separate Your Identity: You had a bad day; you are not a bad business owner.
3. Give Yourself Permission to Pivot: Sometimes the most productive thing you can do is close the laptop and take a walk.
You are building something from nothing, and that is inherently messy. Be as kind to yourself as you would be to a friend in the same position.
Tomorrow is a brand new 24 hours. Your vision is still valid, and you are still the right person for the job.

Protecting your data starts with the right ink. 🧪🖊️

Standard markers stand no chance against daily lab protocols, but the Labmarker LM-710 is engineered for the most demanding environments. Whether you’re working in a high-throughput diagnostic lab or a rugged industrial facility, this is the reliable choice for permanent labelling with built in Japanese quality.

Why the LM-710?
True Alcohol Resistance: Formulated to withstand 70% Ethanol, Isopropanol (IPA), and common disinfectants. No more "ghost" labels after a routine bench wipe-down!

Extreme Temperature Stability: Reliable performance from the heat of an incubator down to -80°C ultra-low freezers.

Multi-Surface Adhesion: Crisp, permanent marking on glass beakers, plastic microcentrifuge tubes, metal racks, and even wet surfaces.

Precision Tips: Available in 0.5mm and 1.0mm for legible writing on even the smallest cryovials.

Ideal for:
✅ Laboratories: Perfect for histology, cell culture, and clinical research.
✅ Industry: Essential for chemical processing, aerospace components, and quality control labeling.
✅ Healthcare: Ensuring patient samples remain identifiable through every stage of processing.

Stop losing track of your samples due to fading ink. Upgrade your bench with the LM-710 and label with confidence.

🧪 Why the Thread Matters: The Power of Buttress Threads in Your Lab
Ever wonder why your high-quality laboratory bottles don't use the same threading as a standard soda bottle? It’s all about the Buttress Thread. While standard threads are symmetrical, the Buttress thread is designed with one vertical face and one angled face. In a world of volatile chemicals and high-pressure sterilization, this subtle design choice is a lifesaver.

💡 Why we love them in the lab:
Superior Load Bearing: The vertical face of the thread allows for much higher axial thrust. This means you can torque that cap down for a tight seal without worrying about the threads "jumping" or stripping.

Leak Prevention: Because they handle high pressure so well, they are the gold standard for preventing leaks during transport or storage of hazardous liquids.

Built for Glass: Glass is strong but brittle. Buttress threads distribute force more efficiently, reducing the risk of stress fractures around the neck of the bottle.

Vacuum & Pressure Resistance: Whether you're degassing or storing something under slight pressure, these threads stay locked in place where others might fail.

Next time you’re reaching for a media bottle, take a look at the neck. That specialized geometry is there to keep your samples safe and your bench dry!

Which is why we supply SAMCO Trident laboratory bottles - proudly manufactured in the UK.

When did the saying in business "no news is good news" become "no news is bad news"? I used to believe if I placed an order, the correct goods would arrive on time, but now, without a confirmation, I have to assume that I will need to chase the supplier repeatedly for confirmation of what the issue is.
