I've seen things like this alot myself. I remember years ago when I was employed and a certain new company came on the scene. Ended up seeing a 2 day old instal of theirs, so bad it was condemned on the spot by us 🙈
I hadn't even done my gas training at the time and I could see how dangerous it was 😱

Went to change a shower waste and a boiler service, instantly smelt gas which turned out to be the pipework under the hob. Well outside of permissible levels not that it matters if there's any smell so ended up capping them off. Partial pipe re-run coming soon.. The rules and tolerances around such things have recently been massively changed in a major update. There's many a house out there who's going to be capped off this winter because you didnt get it checked and remedied before winter 🙈
Can't wait for the daily Facebook posts "I've had my gas capped off, can anyone recommend someone to uncap it" - the simple answer is no, without finding and fixing the leak. Nobody who knows that they're doing will uncap anything no questions asked 😂

So ended up having to grind the steel off and hammer this fitting home, all under full mains pressure. Did I get really wet? Abso-fluffin-fruitly I did 🤣

Old boiler condensate running uphill and was almost blocked, existing set up backwards and also running uphill. Much better now. The washing machine termination isn't ideal, but I ended up using that part to get someone else out of trouble last minute en route to this job, so that will he corrected. As much as i try to be preparedI can't carry everything and if you saw my fuel bill you would understand why 😬😱😟

And yes it was apparently alive...

But, just think... all of you who use a rip off national company or even one of the not so great local ones who never take the case off your boiler to "service" it, this is what could be inside 🤦 Remember, if you take your car for a service and they don't even lift the bonnet - what exactly did you just get? Think about it 🤣
