I often get told by customers that they were told by the installer, their heat pump doesn't need an annual service.
The result of this part getting into such a state has resulted in no performance to the heating system and major high running costs to the heat pump compressor. Not to mention the remedial work required to bring the system back to a reasonable condition.
Left unchecked, these sort of issues can block the most expensive part of the heat pump (The condenser) making the damage irreversible in some cases.
Serviced properly, this would have been resolved long before the customers ~6K a year heating bill.

Just ticking a box is not enough when all that heat lost equals £££ just floating away.
Even when the right type and wall thickness is installed, the birds and mice steal it if it's not protected.

Ground source not working properly for 2 years. Evaporator and TEV frozen due to low energy from the ground loop. 2 hours of de-aeration and 120 litres of mixed glycol later. Initially thought it was a ground leak so pressure tested and all ok. Turns out it was never commissioned properly from the start and full of air
