We are delighted to share that CR Reynolds has been awarded a Bronze Considerate Constructors Scheme National Site Award 2026 for our Holmfirth Town Centre Access Plan project.

As Principal Contractor, we are proud to be delivering this important project on behalf of our client, Kirklees Council. The aim of the Holmfirth Town Centre Access Plan scheme is to improve accessibility, reduce congestion, and enhance the Holmfirth town centre for residents, businesses, and visitors.

This recognition reflects the hard work and commitment of our project team, supply chain partners and everyone involved in supporting community engagement, valuing the workforce, and caring for the environment throughout delivery.

Thank you to the Considerate Constructors Scheme for this recognition, and congratulations to our incredible project team in Holmfirth.

Health and safety are always our priority at CR Reynolds, particularly when working in busy public areas where children and families are naturally curious about what’s happening behind our site fencing.

Working in partnership with Helen Gill from HelloUCreative, we have introduced something a little different at our Cleethorpes Market Place Regeneration project which we are completing for our valued client, North East Lincolnshire Council.

We have brought innovative augmented reality (AR) technology to our site signage to help us share important public safety messages in an innovative and engaging way.

By scanning the QR code on our AR site signage with a mobile device, visitors can meet Riley, our virtual health and safety manager, who talks them through some of the key hazards around a live construction site and shares a simple message:
Stop. Look. Think. Stay Safe!

Once they’ve completed the safety journey, visitors to the signage can also bring the artist’s impression of the new Market Place project to life.

Chris Butts BA (hons) AIEMA, SHEQ & IMS Coordinator for CR Reynolds said:
'It has been incredible to collaborate with Helen on this project which combines traditional construction site safety signage with innovative AR technology. From the moment I met with Helen to discuss this concept, to the installation on site, I was impressed by her creativity and enthusiasm. We would like to thank Helen for all her hard work in bringing our idea to life. We cannot wait to see the impact that this signage has and where we take this technology next.'

There’s is certainly a lot happening behind and on our site fencing at Cleethorpes Marketplace!

🚧 Kingswood Roundabouts Highway Improvement Scheme – Progress Update

We’ve made good progress across the Kingswood Roundabouts Highway Improvement Scheme this month, with works continuing at both Bude/Holwell Road and Ennerdale roundabouts.

📍 Bude/Holwell Road Roundabout
• Kerbing, transition slabs and surfacing installation has progressed along Wawne Road eastbound allowing this to be opened to traffic.
• Utility diversion works in the south-west verge along Bude Road have been completed.
• Cut/Fill works have commenced for the new road widening in the south-west verge along Bude Road.
• CKD units have been installed to the southern half of the roundabout.
• Traffic signal ducting and chambers have been installed in the north verge.
• Drainage and utility diversion works are progressing well on Wawne Road westbound.

📍 Ennerdale Roundabout
• CKD units, PCC Edgings, Channels and footway gullies have been installed along the east verge and footway/cycleway adjacent to Ennerdale.
• NAL sockets and traffic signal ducting have been installed for the new Ennerdale Road pedestrian crossing.
• Base and Binder Course surfacing has been completed to the A1033 west carriageway widening allowing the reduction of TM on the Network.
• Earthworks have continued in the west verge.

These works are helping to progress the scheme towards the next stages of construction, with teams continuing to work across the site.

Thank you to local residents, businesses and road users for your continued patience while these important improvements are delivered.

Congratulations to Joshua from Wakefield College, who recently completed five days of work experience with CR Reynolds on our A652 Bradford Road project, being delivered for our valued client, Kirklees Council.

Joshua spent time in the office learning about project programmes, toolbox talks, site safety and materials planning, before heading out on site to see construction work in action.

He gained hands-on insight into chainage marking, surveying, utility location and temporary traffic management, developing a deeper understanding of how our Project Delivery Teams plan, work safely and deliver high-quality projects.

Well done, Joshua. A great example of learning through real workplace experience. The team at CR Reynolds wish you all the best with your studies and future career.

As the curtain begins to close on another academic year, CR Reynolds reflects on what has been a very busy ten months.

Since September 2025, we have taken part in 24 careers events, fairs, workshops and assemblies, hosted 12 work experience students and 3 educational student site visits. In addition to these, we have also maintained Platinum membership of the 5% Club in recognition of our dedication to providing earn and learn opportunities for our staff.

We hope that through our continual engagement with young people and providing opportunities to work alongside our dedicated site and head office teams, CR Reynolds have given valuable insight into our incredible industry and inspired some of the civil engineers of tomorrow. We wish the students, teachers, and careers advisors that we have engaged with a well-deserved and restful summer break. ☀️

CR Reynolds is proud to be a partner of Humber STEM, supporting the development and inspiration of future generations.

In June, we participated in their primary school engagement event, delivering a series of interactive workshops to pupils from five schools across the region.

Throughout the day, students explored the wide range of exciting career opportunities available within the construction and civil engineering industry, alongside taking part in engaging, hands-on team activities designed to develop problem-solving, communication and teamwork skills.

We were delighted to help spark curiosity and showcase the rewarding career pathways our industry has to offer.

CR Reynolds is delighted to be welcoming six site-based work experience placements from schools across Rotherham at our ongoing Riverside Gardens Project. Each placement has been organised in close collaboration with Learning & Development Officer, Andy Noble (Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council), and through our local school contacts.

Placement students have been working alongside various members of our Project Delivery Team, gaining valuable hands-on experience and undertaking various tasks such as supporting drawing take-offs, quality assurance and snagging works.

These placements are providing practical insight into our exciting industry, helping to develop key skills such as teamwork, quality assurance, health & safety awareness, and an understanding of live site environments.

Opportunities such as this play an important role in supporting future career pathways within the construction and civil engineering sector, and we are proud to contribute to developing local talent while delivering our project and YORCivil Framework social value commitments
