Lazenby’s was first set up in Hull by Paul Lazenby back in May 1963, the same week he got married. The first premises were at the
Clarendon Street Garage which, within 18 months through rapid growth, needed to relocate. Firstly the company moved to Grosvenor Street, then Central Street and then some four years later to a purpose-built factory in Main Street where the company remained until Paul’s retirement in 1995. Lazenby’s forged the way in the sheet metal work business breaking ground with the newly-developed CNC machinery which transformed what was a day’s job into minutes through the push of a button. This concreted the foundations of the Lazenby’s ethos of buying the best machines and getting the most out of them. Upon Paul’s retirement, Bob Sewell, the then Factory Manager, took over the helm as Managing Director and began a new chapter in the story of Lazenby’s ongoing success. Over the next few years Bob, with his silent partner Bill Neale, invested heavily with both time and money to remain the leader in sheet metal design and technology, a tactic which has worked well, netting them a whole host of accolades and design awards over the years. In 2008, a view was taken that, due to space constraints coupled with Lazenby’s desire to constantly to improve and reinvent itself to stay abreast of a diminishing world economy, a move into larger facilities was needed. In December of 2008, Lazenby’s moved into a 20,000 square foot building on Gothenburg Way on the Sutton Fields Industrial Estate, in the heart of the city’s industrial area. Recently Lazenby’s has been transformed into the Lazenby Group to reflect the diverse range of products and services the company now offers.
