Big concrete pour day in Leven, Beverley!

Our team is on site today laying 50m³ of concrete for the foundation of a new steel building. From the rebar mesh and formwork through to the pump truck in action, everything’s coming together smoothly.

A steel building is quicker to put up than a brick shell. It is not instant.

On a straightforward job we are usually at about two weeks for calculations and drawings. After the deposit, delivery is often three to four weeks, then er****on once the slab is ready.

The bit that slips is rarely the steel. It is planning, the base, or bolts cast in the wrong place.

A floor area is not a price.

Span, eaves height, single-skin or insulated cladding, and whether the slab is in the contract move the number more than the square metres. A 10 m by 10 m shell can start around the figure in this note. A 16 m clear-span workshop with a power-floated floor is a different job.

We would rather itemise it than win on a kit price that grows later.
