A huge thank you to from the Low Energy Design Group for inviting me back to present — I'll admit, being asked to speak for 2 hours had me quite nervous! 😅
We covered a wide range of topics around building fabric and how it affects heat pump installations, including:
Fabric-first approaches and materials available on the market
Case studies using foam glass on real projects
Issues we encounter daily — from poor design and workmanship through to things that have been hidden away and still signed off
We had a brilliant mix of attendees — installers, architects, university lecturers, and specialist heritage architects — and the discussion was fantastic throughout. What was planned as 2 hours ran to 2 hours 45 minutes 🤣
It was great to showcase the products we use day to day, with representation from:
Partel — airtightness solutions
IndiNature — h**p insulation
Gapogroup Ltd — performance gap products
Baumit UK — EWI options including thin-coat systems and internal lime products
Acara Concepts Ltd — wood fibre build-ups
Foamed Glass UK Ltd — and how we use foam glass across our projects
ISO-Chemie GmbH GB — window sealing systems and why window detailing is critical to a high-performing home
Internorm UK — our preferred window specification
We also discussed how, as a company, we work across everything from Building Regulations through to Passivhaus Trust — and why we align with the AECB - Association for Environment Conscious Building, as it gives our clients a true picture of design intent versus real-world performance.
I'm also delighted to share that I've been invited to speak at Heat Pump Demystified in Birmingham on 10–11 September — very much looking forward to that!
This presentation will be available in due course through .uk on the Skool community and podcast.
