🚁 We're officially licensed for commercial drone work — all aspects of construction. ✔️
As always at W T Hall: efficient and always evolving 🔄
Because we know buildings inside out, we can now do it all in one:
🔍 Find the problem (aerial survey + full written reports)
💷 Cost it up
🔨 Fix it
Coming next — thermal + mapping: EWI surveys right through to spotting faulty solar panels from the air ☀️
Massive thanks to Shane at iProSurv for the cracking training 🙌 Passed all my open licences including A2 for working close to people, plus my GVC for full commercial work.
If a job's worth doing, it's worth doing right.

A retrofit roof done properly — 🏚️➡️✅
Swipe to see the before and during shots on this one.
This had farmhouse flashing and slate roof with too low a pitch — classic setup for capillary action and persistent leaks. But dig a little deeper and there was more going on: the parapet had been built on top of an old flat roof, and the original concrete capping had just been left in place. Sitting right there, creating a thermal bridge nobody had dealt with.
We stripped everything back. New substructure, soundproofing insulation between the ceiling joists, new warm roof deck on top, new fascia and guttering, and correct flashing details throughout.
No shortcuts. No "that'll do sweetheart."

As my grandad used to say — if a job's worth doing, it's worth doing right. That's the mindset we bring to every project at WT Hall Builders, whether it's a quick repair or a full house retrofit.
If you've got flat roof issues — or suspect there's more going on under the surface — give us a shout. 👇

A huge thank you to from the Low Energy Design Group for inviting me back to present — I'll admit, being asked to speak for 2 hours had me quite nervous! 😅

We covered a wide range of topics around building fabric and how it affects heat pump installations, including:

Fabric-first approaches and materials available on the market

Case studies using foam glass on real projects

Issues we encounter daily — from poor design and workmanship through to things that have been hidden away and still signed off

We had a brilliant mix of attendees — installers, architects, university lecturers, and specialist heritage architects — and the discussion was fantastic throughout. What was planned as 2 hours ran to 2 hours 45 minutes 🤣

It was great to showcase the products we use day to day, with representation from:

Partel — airtightness solutions

IndiNature — h**p insulation

Gapogroup Ltd — performance gap products

Baumit UK — EWI options including thin-coat systems and internal lime products

Acara Concepts Ltd — wood fibre build-ups

Foamed Glass UK Ltd — and how we use foam glass across our projects

ISO-Chemie GmbH GB — window sealing systems and why window detailing is critical to a high-performing home

Internorm UK — our preferred window specification

We also discussed how, as a company, we work across everything from Building Regulations through to Passivhaus Trust — and why we align with the AECB - Association for Environment Conscious Building, as it gives our clients a true picture of design intent versus real-world performance.

I'm also delighted to share that I've been invited to speak at Heat Pump Demystified in Birmingham on 10–11 September — very much looking forward to that!

This presentation will be available in due course through .uk on the Skool community and podcast.

If you’re looking for a one-stop solution—from building regulations through to AECB, Passivhaus, retrofit or EWI—get in touch and we’ll manage everything from start to finish.

I’m really pleased to announce that on April 2nd at 7pm, I’ll be speaking in Newcastle at The Victoria Comet
(NE1 5DF).

I’ve been invited back by Craig and the Low Energy Design Group to deliver another session focused on helping installers better understand the performance gap — and how poor workmanship can significantly impact ASHP performance and efficiency.
This will be a practical, real-world talk covering:
• Real examples of poor installation (insulation, windows, floors & walls)
• How these issues affect heat pump performance

• An in-depth look at insulation systems available on the market — with honest pros & cons
• Airtightness methods and products installers can use on their own projects

• Live samples and mock-ups of systems currently available

• Discussion around AECB - Association for Environment Conscious Building and Passivhaus Trust standards

The event will also be filmed for the Skool Community and recorded for the InstallD Heat Pump Podcast by Dominic Eves
This session is open to everyone — not just heat pump engineers. If you’d like to attend, feel free to get in touch.
Look forward to seeing some familiar faces there as ive always enjoyed these evenings with all the knowledge shared.

Happy New Year to one and all 🎉
It’s been a very strong start to the year already, and we’re heading full steam into 2026.
We’re very honoured to have been invited by Richmondshire Climate Action to their first Repair & Repurposing Café and Eco Fair of the year, held at Richmond School and Sixth Form College
We’ll be there alongside Chris Nixon Energi North East Ltd and Mark B. from Nord Hus, and we’re looking forward to some great conversations.
As usual, we’ll be bringing a hands-on display of the products and systems we use day-to-day on our retrofit projects, including:

Gapotape – airtightness for PIR reducing the performance gap.

– natural insulation systems, including h**p

Baumit UK – EWI systems and internal lime-based finishes

Partel – airtightness membranes, tapes and ventilation solutions

– window sealing and installation products

Internorm – information on what we consider some of the best windows in the industry

Maincor – underfloor heating systems

As always, we’ll be offering free, no-pressure advice for homeowners—talking honestly about what’s available, what actually works, and how to get the best uplift for your budget when improving building fabric, comfort and energy performance.
If you’re local, come and say hello 👋
We’d love to see you there.
