F M Caine and Sons Experts in fallen stock collection and disposal since 1919
24/7 phone line

F M Caine & Sons was established just after the First World War by our great-great-grandfather, Michael Caine, who began collecting casualty animals from local farms in 1919. A family-run firm in Knighton, Powys, ever since, the business changed its name with the death of our great-grandfather in 1962 to become F M Caine & Sons Ltd. And since October 2009 we’ve been M J Caine & Sons Ltd, still tra

ding under the name of F M Caine & Sons, still a family business, still quickly and efficiently collecting and disposing of fallen stock for local famers and livestock owners. But while our history as a tried and trusted company streteches back over 90 years, our computerised lorry tracking system and new Online Stock History service mean that we’re very much in tune with our customers today.

As the year draws to a close, we would like to thank our customers for their continued trust and support, and our staff for their hard work, dedication, and professionalism throughout the year.

What we do relies on strong relationships — with the farming communities we serve and the people who work tirelessly behind the scenes and on the road every day. We are proud of those relationships and never take them for granted.

We hope this Christmas brings a well-earned rest for our team and a peaceful, enjoyable break for everyone, spent with family and loved ones.

Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and a happy, healthy New Year.
We look forward to working with you again in 2026.

With best wishes,
F. M. Caine & Sons

Keeping Traditions Alive – Together as a Town

A huge thank you to everyone who came out to support this year’s Knighton Carnival – what an incredible day for the town!

We were proud to have the F. M. Caine & Sons truck transformed into a Jungle Book float, packed with colour, characters, and plenty of community spirit. From cheeky monkeys to jungle explorers, it was brilliant to see so many smiling faces taking part and cheering us along the route.

👏 A massive well done to all the organisers, volunteers, and families who helped make it happen – and to the crowds who lined the streets to make the day so special.

Here’s to keeping traditions alive and celebrating our community together.

What a day at Burwarton Show!

We had a fantastic time catching up with so many of our current customers, meeting plenty of new faces, and chatting all things fallen stock collection.

A big thank you to everyone who stopped by our stand, from sharing stories to asking questions, it was great to see such interest in what we do. Ben even wandered over to the Clee View Farmers’ tent to give a (slightly rambling 😅) talk on Understanding the Rules Around Fallen Stock, hopefully without sending anyone to sleep!

Here’s our one and only photo from the day (note to self: take more next time 😬

Brecon Show, done!
Dylan put in a full shift repping F.M. Caine & Sons today, handing out freebies, chatting to the crowd, and making sure the mugs didn’t run off with the sheep 🐑

Safe to say our youngest team member earned his seat (and his sleep!) after a big day supporting the business.

Thanks to everyone who came by the stand – we loved catching up with so many of you!

It’s Farm Safety Week!

At F.M. Caine & Sons, safety isn’t just something we talk about, it’s how we work every single day. Farming is one of the most rewarding jobs, but it can also be one of the most dangerous.

This week, we’re standing alongside the Yellow Wellies campaign to remind everyone, farmers, workers, and rural businesses, to slow down, take five, and think safety first.
• Check your kit.
• Keep clear communication.
• Don’t cut corners! small steps save lives.

Let’s all look out for one another.
Stay safe. Stay aware.

🔧 Welfare Starts With Maintenance 🔧

Yesterday we welcomed the team from Accles & Shelvoke to site for our scheduled captive bolt equipment servicing.

These tools play a vital role in ensuring that animals are dispatched humanely, safely, and efficiently — and that can only happen when equipment is maintained to the highest standards.

Regular servicing helps:
✅ Ensure effective and immediate stuns
✅ Prevent equipment failure in critical moments
✅ Uphold our commitment to animal welfare and WATOK compliance

Big thanks to Accles & Shelvoke for their thorough support — it’s another way we ensure professionalism and care in everything we do.

🔵 Bluetongue Update for Our Customers 🔵

Getting quite a few calls about the new bluetongue movement restrictions, so we've put together a quick guide to clear up the confusion.

The important bit: These restrictions are for LIVE animal movements only.

Fallen stock collection is business as usual with the same reliable service across Wales and England. There's no additional paperwork or restrictions, so just call us as normal on 01547 528654.
We've read through all the Welsh Government guidance so you don't have to! Check out our latest blog for the full breakdown of what these rules actually mean for fallen stock collection.
