We are delighted to be planning a series of exciting workshops for parents and carers and would love you to join us!

Using additional funding, we hope to offer fun, interactive sessions where we can:

✅ Learn new ideas together

✅ Make resources and activities to use at home

✅ Share experiences and tips with other families

✅ Enjoy refreshments in a friendly atmosphere

📚 Workshop Themes

🔢 Mathematics

Fun and easy ways to support your child's early maths skills through everyday play.

📖 Books & Storytelling

Bringing stories to life and developing a love of reading together.

🎵 Songs & Rhymes

Exploring favourite songs and rhymes to support language and communication development.

🏠 Home Learning Challenge

At the end of each workshop, you will receive a simple activity to try at home with your child.

When we meet again, you'll have the opportunity to share:

Laura from Debutots will be visiting again to deliver fun and imaginative storytelling sessions.

We have arranged for Liz from Number Train to visit and show us the exciting mathematical learning opportunities available for our children.

🚌 Story Bus Adventure

We're hoping to welcome a visit from the wonderful Story Bus, bringing books, stories and lots of reading fun!

In room 3 as the children get older, we offer the opportunity/challenge for them to mix their own colours with the powder paints.

We talk about what happens when you put 2 colours together to make a new colour.....I found these feathers at Nursery recently and thought it would be a good way to demonstrate mixing colours.

We have been watering the vegetables over the summer, and here is a small selection of our harvest.......there is still more to ripen.

Also the apples are now on the tree near the mud kitchen, so I'm sure it will apple pies all round in the autumn.

This week, we've had a fantastic time making our own freshly squeezed orange ice lollies to help us cool down in the lovely hot weather.

What better way to quench our thirst than with a delicious ice lolly?

This activity has been wonderful for the children, as it allowed them to enhance their fine motor skills while they squashed and squeezed the oranges to extract as much juice as possible.

The staff also engaged the children in discussing the round shape of the oranges and explored how cutting them in half resulted in two pieces, fostering their mathematical understanding.

Additionally, the children discovered the concept of cause and effect: the juice started as a liquid when placed in the freezer, but transformed into a solid when frozen.

Alongside making the lollies, the children also decorated pots and planted cress seeds, which we hope will grow in the coming week.

Only 2 more weeks left and we are looking forward to seeing everyone back in Nursery and to welcoming all our new children and families.
