Recent fault-finding turned into a full rewire✅

This flat initially reported a loss of power to the socket circuit. Interestingly, we had dealt with a very similar issue in the neighbouring property, although theirs affected the lighting circuit.

Testing and inspection revealed poor insulation resistance along with a lack of continuity on the ring final circuit. Further investigation showed that both flats had been wired in Pyro. Pyro is far less common these days — it’s not even taught at college anymore when it comes to glanding and installation.

While Pyro does have its benefits, after 50+ years in service and countless alterations, this type of installation often starts to fail. In some cases faults can be traced and repaired, but more often than not it becomes a lost cause.

Both flats have now been quoted for complete rewires and will begin works in mid February, bringing the installations up to current standards with modern wiring methods and up-to-date circuit protection. Flats can often fall under commercial-style regulations due to the increased fire risk, making safety and compliance even more critical.

Solar Panel Removal for Roofing Contractor ✅
