A brilliant example of community in action 👏
Last week, Tom and Gemma got stuck in as part of the We Are Wakefield Volunteer Day, supporting Disability Sport Yorkshire.

Alongside other volunteers, they spent the day helping to organise, tidy, and spruce up the site, transforming key areas and creating a more welcoming, functional space for the team and the people they support. From improving facilities to giving the grounds some much-needed attention, their efforts really went a long way.

We’re incredibly proud to see our team giving back in such a meaningful way. It’s a great reminder that sometimes a day of volunteering can have a lasting impact.

We know that looking after wellbeing starts with creating a culture where people feel supported, connected and comfortable speaking openly and that’s why people like Rachel make such a difference.

Rachel is our fantastic Wellbeing Champion and plays an important role in supporting our team throughout the year. Whether it’s checking in with colleagues, encouraging conversations around mental health, sharing helpful resources or simply being there to listen, she helps ensure wellbeing remains part of our everyday culture.

In manufacturing environments, where things can move quickly and teams are constantly juggling priorities, having someone who helps create space for these conversations is incredibly valuable.

At Solupak, giving back is something we’re passionate about and our team have been putting in some serious miles lately for causes close to our hearts 💙

In April, five of our team, Luke, Wiola, Jeanie, Gemma and Helen, took part in THe Yorkshire Broker's Run, Walk, Cycle challenge, collectively completing an incredible 638 miles while raising vital funds for The Prince of Wales Hospice, one of our chosen charities of the year.

As if that wasn’t enough, our MD Helen McDonald recently joined a 29-person team walking 19 miles to York in torrential rain, helping to raise over £5,000 for Yorkshire Cancer Research, proving that a little rain certainly doesn’t stop a determined team!

And this Sunday, Helen and Luke will be lacing up their trainers once again as they take on the Pontefract 10K in support of the amazing The Prince of Wales Hospice.
They’re both hoping to beat last year’s times but more importantly, raise even more money for an incredible cause that supports so many families in our local community.

We’re incredibly proud of the team’s commitment, whether that’s in the workplace or out in the community. Small input, big impact 💙

This week marks Mental Health Awareness Week and this year’s theme, Taking Action, is a reminder that supporting mental health doesn’t always require big gestures, often it’s the small, consistent actions that make the biggest difference.
