At The Store Room, we know that running self storage facilities across the country comes with a responsibility to think about our environmental impact 🌍 We have a clear and focused plan to reduce that impact, and we wanted to share what we’re doing and why it matters!

Some of the key steps we’ve taken so far:
💡 Rolling out energy-saving, proximity-activated LED lighting across our facilities
☀️ Installing solar panels at 66% of our existing buildings, with more to follow at every new development
🏗️ Building new sites to the highest sustainability standards, targeting net zero carbon in construction
♻️ Supporting recycling and sustainable packaging across every facility
📄 Reducing paper use through new technology and processes
🌳 Creating space for biodiversity at new sites, including trees, hedges and wildflower areas

Our self storage team is delighted to reaffirm our continued support for Simon on the Streets, a local charity providing vital emotional and practical support to people experiencing across Leeds.

As a proud '5 for 5' partner, we’ve pledged £500 every year for five years to help fund their essential outreach work.

In 2025, Simon on the Streets carried out 2,061 welfare checks, accompanied 647 people to appointments, and supported individuals to access temporary and permanent accommodation.

We believe our sites should be part of the communities they serve, and we’re proud to support the incredible work Simon on the Streets does across Leeds. 💗💜
