It’s been a very busy two days here at CGP! We’re super excited about our new piece of kit that’s been delivered, our brand new VM20plus machining centre. The machine will increase our machining capacity now our apprentices are coming along well. With 1 metre of travel in the X axis, 12k chilled spindle and through spindle coolant it will hit the ground running!

A big thanks goes out to the people at the two gents that delivered and sited the machine were fantastic.

We love seeing staff develop and learn here at CGP, it’s definitely rewarding to see. Richard has been spending some time on our Hurco VMX42i with Ren going through setups and programming which she’s picking up really quickly. And Joe has been doing the same with Scott. Both of our apprentices have a fantastic attitude and want to learn, we’re really looking forward to seeing them progress further

CGP are pleased to announce that we have a new apprentice! Loren, or Ren as she prefers to be called, joins us having worked in engineering previously but is new to toolmaking. Ren is friendly, enthusiastic and keen to learn. We're really looking forward to getting her education started and seeing how she progresses

We’ve finally got round to making a new jig for our EDM die sink machine. With over 700 holes this took a while to drill, even with carbide bits. Looks pretty smart in our opinion though, we’re looking forward to trying it as it will reduce setup times and provide a better clamping method

The new QC manager has been reprimanded for attacking another member of staff. It’s not going to trial as the staff member has decided against pressing charges as he escaped unharmed 🐶

Given that CGP were in investing in a new stat of the art machine we wanted to make sure we had good forklift access. This meant we needed to have a bit of a move around, and more importantly, a bit of building work. The old and unused meeting round has now been repurposed as the grinding area. This has free’d up a lot of space so that we can continue improving the shop floor layout and ultimately get more machines in. Watch this space 🙂

The last week has been an exciting and busy one here at CGP. We’ve taken delivery of our new Makino U6 H.E.A.T. from NCMT Ltd. Everything has gone well, the engineers that commissioned the machine were great. After 14 years of service it was a little sad to see our Agie Charmilles 440SLP go as it’s been a fantastic machine, but technology moves on and we must move with it. Training starts tomorrow and we can’t wait, we’re always looking for ways to improve efficiency, quality, accuracy, lead times and costs

A 2 impression mould recently finished by one of the apprentices at CGP, fully hardened with 4 up and aways. A lovely piece of work and it’s wonderful seeing progress and development in people and their abilities

Single impression, fully hardened, 12 up and away movements, fixed half rising core and HASCO latch locks. All fed by a Meusburger Georg GmbH & Co KG 4 drop manifold. The finished part shown in grey is the access protection flap for a sharps bin.
