⚡ Unsatisfactory EICR? What Happens Next?

An unsatisfactory Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR) doesn't necessarily mean an entire electrical installation needs replacing.

It means the findings need to be understood, the necessary action identified and the appropriate remedial work arranged.

For landlords, receiving the report is only the first step.

🔹 Understand the findings. Know which observations require action and what they mean for the property's electrical safety.

🔹 Arrange the remedials. Where C1, C2 or FI observations are identified, the necessary action must be taken. For privately rented properties in England, the regulations generally require remedial or further investigative work within 28 days, or sooner if the report specifies.

🔹 Keep the evidence. Retain the EICR and written confirmation of the work completed, so there's a clear record of how the findings were addressed.
