Hello friends.
It's that time of year again.
If your boiler is making strange noises and refuses to work, check the consence pipe, it could be frozen! Follow the while plastic pipe coming from the bottom of your boiler, it might run to an external drain point. It's about the diameter of your thumb.
If frozen, boil a kettle of hot water and pore it over the pipe outside, this will unfreeze the pipe and drain any excess condense liquid that might be trapped.
If unsure call a professional for help.

If your boiler starts to gurgle or make funny sounds then stop using it.
Chances are it is a frozen condence pipe that discharges water from the boiler.
With the extreme cold nights lately, the condence pipe can freeze and become blocked this will eventually flood the boiler.
To prevent damage, turn the boiler off and contact me or a registered engineer to fix the issue.

This is a corroded system.
Heating system need regular maintenance to help protect and prolong the life of your boiler and radiators.
Dosing the system every couple of years with inhibitor and a cleaning agent will prevent the system form deteriorating.
This system suffered with cold spots on the radiators, poor circulation, damage to the pump, blockages and boiler knocking.
The systems efficiency was practicaly non existent and was only getting worse.
If maintained correctly and regularly your system should be clear like water.
Having a dirty system will cost you more and more the longer it goes without a system flush and chemical dose.

It is important to have your boiler and other gas appliances serviced annually.
Not only does it help keep your applience burning clean and efficient but also helps maintain a good working condition and will prolong the life of the appliance.
If left to long in a poor condition the efficiency of the appliance will get worse and can eventually lead to catastrophic failure.
Energy bills are on the rise constantly, boilers and components are not cheap, so help protect your home and your wallet by having your appliances serviced regularly to save money in the future and keep your family warm.
This is a blocked boiler condense sump and a magnetic system filter.
The boiler had not been serviced in years.
If left much longer the boiler would have become completely choked, miss firing, kettling sounds and damage to the primary heat exchanger.

Newly installed magnetic system filter.
That's after 10 minutes usage. A good idea to have one installed if you dont have one already.
Always make sure the filters are cleaned out after or during a boiler service.
These filters are great and help protect your boiler and heating system.
