🚧 New Project Started in Baldock 🔨

Excited to get underway on another major project for our clients in Baldock.

We’ve started by dismantling the existing conservatory and removing the current concrete base and footings, as they weren’t deep enough for the new build. The new footings are now dug and ready for the next stage of works.

This project will include a large double-storey extension with multiple internal alterations throughout the property, along with a brand-new bathroom and a luxurious new kitchen to completely transform the home.

A big job ahead with plenty of structural work involved, but we’re looking forward to bringing this one to life 💪

A fantastic transformation completed by the team at Hudson Huckle Construction 🔨

This project included:

▪️ Single-storey extension
▪️ New log burner installation
▪️ New Velux windows bringing in loads of natural light
▪️ New bifold doors opening the space up beautifully
▪️ Full landscaped garden
▪️ Modern open-plan finish throughout

From start to finish this one has completely changed the feel of the home, creating a bright, open living space perfect for family life and entertaining.

🧱 Steel Installation – No Job Too Big 💪

At Hudson Huckle Construction, we regularly carry out structural steel installations, and this recent one was no small task…

A 700kg steel that definitely put us to the test.

🔹 A full day just to manoeuvre it around to the back of the property
🔹 Another day getting it safely into position inside
🔹 And a further day to install it correctly

Not the quickest job, but these are the ones where experience really counts. With the right knowledge, planning, and teamwork, the steel was installed safely and professionally.

Big effort from the team on this one 👊

Something a bit different for us recently — a static caravan renovation 🔨

This was a really interesting project and something we hadn’t taken on before, but one we thoroughly enjoyed getting stuck into.

The works included a new bathroom installation, new radiators, a full electrical upgrade, and reinforcing the flooring to make it stronger and more durable. We also brought everything through to a clean painted finish.

Unfortunately we didn’t get final photos of the completed project, but it’s great to look back on something a little outside the usual scope of works.

Always good to take on new challenges and expand what we do 💪

We had the pleasure of completing a truly unique project last year – the renovation of the Old Church School in Willian.

Originally built in 1872 by the Church of England, this historic building served as a village school until its closure in 1991, before being transformed into a residential home. It was an honour for our team to be part of its next chapter.

Our works focused on a full renovation of the upstairs, including a brand new master bedroom, walk-in wardrobe, modern bathroom, and three additional bedrooms. A key feature of this project was exposing the original beams – carefully sanding them back to bare wood to restore their natural character and bring the building’s history back to life.

Externally, we carried out a complete roof overhaul. The existing slate roof was stripped, re-felted and battened, before being retiled using reclaimed slate to maintain the property’s traditional look. We also installed 12 new Velux windows, bringing in plenty of natural light throughout the upper floor.

This was a particularly exciting project for us, combining high-end modern finishes with beautiful period features. It’s always rewarding to work on a property with so much history and help preserve it for the future.

A great effort from the whole team and a fantastic end result.

🌸 Cherry Blossom Cottage Project 🌸

A look back at the Cherry Blossom Project, completed a few months ago — a build that we’re extremely proud to have delivered.

This project involved:
• Double-storey extension
• Full house refurbishment
• New kitchen installation
• New bathroom installation
• Structural steelwork
• Landscaping to the rear garden
• Full internal decoration throughout

As with many projects, there were challenges along the way, including restricted access, muck away logistics, and machinery coordination, but through careful planning and persistence, the project was successfully completed.

The end result is a transformed home that reflects the effort, experience, and attention to detail invested throughout the build.

We’re excited to announce the start of another full-house renovation, this time at the beautifully characterful Old Church School.

This project includes:

Cherry Blossom Cottage – Project Progress Update 🌸

We are now moving into week 8 at Cherry Blossom Cottage, and we are pleased to report significant progress.
The first-floor steels and floor structure have been successfully installed, and we have now reached roof height, with all ridge beams securely in place. This milestone marks a major step forward in the build, enabling the roofing works to commence from Monday.

The project has advanced exceptionally well thanks to the hard work and dedication of everyone involved. We look forward to seeing the next stages take shape as we continue to deliver to the highest standards.

That’s a wrap for another big week on our CHERRY BLOSSOM COTTAGE PROJECT 🌸

We’ve officially reached the first scaffolding lift 😅 — lintels are on, padstones are set to height and we’re now fully prepped for the crane and steels arriving Monday morning. It’s been a graft, but we’ve made amazing progress and couldn’t be happier with how everything is taking shape.

Massive shoutout to JR Scaffolding for always having our back with top-quality scaffolding. Your work keeps everything running smoothly — we appreciate it!

Stay tuned for the next big step as we lift the steels into place.
