Great progress has been made on our luxury residential project in North Sussex this week.

The Cheesmur team and supply chain partners have shown exceptional skill and attention to detail, particularly in the meticulous setting out and stone detailing. The challenge of aligning cuts with bespoke, handmade bricks is being expertly managed on site and it's already looking impressive.

A major structural milestone was achieved this week with the main roof and orangery steelwork now substantially complete following a successful crane-lift operation.

Well done to the entire team for another significant step forward! The project continues to move ahead successfully.

Earlier this month, we attended the inaugural Brighton & Hove Citywide Skills Celebration 2026, hosted by the Sussex Council of Training Providers SCTP in partnership with Brighton & Hove City Council.

Five awards were presented for exceptional achievement including Employer of the Year, which was sponsored by the University of Sussex and presented by Robin Banerjee, Pro‑Vice‑Chancellor for Global and Civic Engagement.

We are very pleased to say that we won!

Construction Director, Steve King, said, "It's always brilliant to win awards, but this one is especially pleasing as we received an external nomination to be the 'Employer of the Year'. Knowing that our internal appreciation of our employees is appreciated that much from outside of our organisation is fantastic."

We're excited to be on site at a historic mews in Brighton, carrying out internal alteration and refurbishment works!

This project, located within the East Cliff conservation area of the City, involves a single-story extension, a first-floor terrace with metal railings and an external staircase, new fenestration, roof coverings, and roof lights. Our external scope also includes new timber double-glazed windows, decorations, soft landscaping, external drainage, and garage refurbishment.

The Cheesmur team is working hard, with scaffolding erected, internal strip-out works underway, and roofing repairs being carried out. It's a fantastic project where we can bring a modern touch to this distinctive dwelling within a historic mews.

We are delighted to take you on a tour of our latest residential development; a scheme of five new build townhouses for LAN Estates in Brighton & Hove.

While under construction, the scheme was awarded an 'Excellent' rating by the Considerate Constructors Scheme, something that was testament to the quality and attention to detail showcased in the build, with the homes featuring timber frames, brick external skins, and slate roofs, as well as air source heat pumps and solar panels to minimise energy use.

Our site team was outstandingly led by Site Manager, Haresh Kler, and the whole team must be praised for their careful project management and strong communication with local residents, which minimised disruption throughout the build.

We also want to acknowledge the excellent support from our key subcontractors: Walls & Ceilings Ltd, Walls & Millis Brickwork, Ace Carpentry, Bryant Decorators and Sussex Ceramics.

Well done to everyone involved in delivering these much needed new homes!

A huge thanks to Amerra Groundworks, BLB surveyors and Cityzen for their partnership through this project, a great team effort.

Progress update on Hastings Library!

Our work on Hastings library for East Sussex County Council is continuing. Scaffolding has now been erected to the rear elevation, and the existing fire escape staircase is being carefully removed. Once this phase is complete, the scaffold will be struck so we can set out and install the concrete pads for the new staircase.

The new staircase is currently being fabricated and scheduled for installation in mid to late February. DOFF cleaning and Graffiti removal are also now underway.

Swipe to see some behind-the-scenes pictures of the scaffolding in place.

We are incredibly proud to announce our official sponsor of the Hastings And Bexhill RFC.

As part of our ongoing commitment to delivering added-social value for East Sussex County Council, we were delighted to donate new after-match T-shirts for the girls' youth teams.

Supporting girls as they grow in confidence, develop new skills and have fun through sport is something we deeply care about, and we're honoured to play a part in that journey.

Visiting the club and experiencing their fantastic culture first-hand was a real privilege. A huge thank you to all the players we go to speak with, their politeness, gratitude and team spirit are a true reflection of the club's values.

Whether we are on-site or supporting the local community, we are proud to be helping to build a better future for .

If you've passed Brighton Hospital recently, you'll have spotted some of our latest work taking shape across Blocks D & E. Our team has been installing scaffolding to facilitate essential roof maintenance, including the replacement of rainwater and other perishable elements on two of the site's largest buildings.

Perched on Elm Grove Hill, the site has offered some incredible views and we couldn't help but share some of them with you!

A huge thank our supply chain partners: Austin Cradles for providing the scaffolding, Sussex Asphalte for their roofing expertise, and COH Surveyors for their consultation services.

Works commenced over the Christmas period and are due to be completed in Spring, so stay tuned for the latest updates as this project progresses.
