🟠 STORM AUSTEN: AMBER WIND WARNING
For our customers across Cornwall, the Isles of Scilly, Plymouth and parts of West Devon: prepare for strong winds and possible power cuts on Friday 23 October, 1am–10am BST.
A few practical steps for solar and battery owners:
🔋 Check your backup capability today. Solar panels and a battery do NOT automatically keep your home powered during a power cut. Backup requires suitable equipment and configuration. If unsure, check your installer’s guidance.
📱 Charge phones and power banks. Keep a torch handy and save the numbers below.
⚡ If you have working battery backup, prioritise essential appliances and stay within your system’s limits.
🏠 Stay off the roof. Never touch loose panels, damaged cables or wet electrical equipment. Solar panels can still generate electricity in daylight during a grid outage.
