We are extremely proud to have been chosen to carry out the surface preparation to the new concrete slab, anti-slip surface coating and helipad markings as part of the major upgrade at Royal Preston Hospital for critically ill and injured patients. A project funded by a charity called HELP (Helicopter Emergency Landing Pads) The HELP Appeal has funded the full £720,000 required – a donation representing the largest single charitable contribution in the Trust’s history.
Robert Bertram, Chief Executive of the HELP Appeal, said:
“This new replacement state of the art helipad will ensure that critically ill and injured patients can be transferred directly to hospital safely and quickly, day or night. It replaces the old and worn out helipad and will support the incredible work of air ambulance crews and NHS staff, and ultimately, help save lives.”
A temporary air ambulance landing site has been arranged at Fulwood Barracks to ensure patients can continue to be transported safely during the works. With a few small problems knocking us back along the way, we still managed to carry out all surface preparation and marking work right on time for the critically important hand over. Quite an impressive sight from how the helicopter pilot and crew see the new state of the art pad.
