Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2026 — that’s a wrap!

What a week it has been in Belfast!

While the city was filled with music, culture and thousands of visitors, our McQuillan Environmental team was working behind the scenes to keep Belfast clean and moving.
From early-morning starts and hundreds of bins across the city centre, to keeping on top of the waste throughout the week, our teams have been there every step of the way.

And now, the final collection is complete. The last bins have been cleared and Belfast is back to normal.

A huge thank you and well done to everyone who played their part.
We’re proud to have supported Belfast City Council as waste management partner for this incredible event — and even prouder of the team who made it happen.

Behind the Scenes: Preparing Belfast for Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2026

As Belfast prepares to welcome Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann for the very first time, our McQuillan Environmental team is working behind the scenes to support Belfast City Council as the event’s waste management partner.

A huge amount of planning and preparation goes into keeping a city moving during a major event. Ahead of the Fleadh getting underway this Sunday, our team has been busy preparing and labelling 400 bins, which will be distributed throughout Belfast City Centre to help manage waste during the celebrations.

While thousands of visitors enjoy the music, culture and atmosphere of this historic event, our team will be working from the early hours each morning to collect waste, maintain cleanliness and help keep Belfast safe, welcoming and looking its best.

We’re proud to play our part in supporting this landmark celebration and helping create an enjoyable experience for everyone attending Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2026.

Great to see work progressing on the expansion of our solar PV system at our MRF.

This investment marks another important step in our sustainability journey, supporting our commitment to improving energy efficiency, reducing our environmental impact and creating more sustainable operations for the future.

Once complete, the expanded solar installation will significantly increase our renewable energy generation on site, helping to reduce reliance on grid electricity while supporting the continued delivery of our waste management and recycling services.

Thanks to the Encom Energy team delivering this project. We look forward to sharing further updates as the installation progresses.

As part of our journey towards the Business in the Community Northern Ireland Business & Biodiversity Charter, an ecological survey has recently been carried out at Budore Quarry.

The survey will help us identify the habitats and species present across the site, establish a biodiversity baseline, and highlight opportunities to enhance wildlife and natural habitats in the future.

We're looking forward to receiving the findings and using them to shape future biodiversity initiatives across our operations.

Every step helps us create a more sustainable future.
