One of our senior reliability engineers, Tom Sutton, added a few more Schaeffler OPTIME sensors to a customer's critical assets.

Every sensor installed means another asset giving us an early warning of temperature shifts and vibration anomalies before they turn into actual problems, providing better peace of mind!

When a PCB fails, replacement can seem like the obvious option. But with the right expertise and diagnostic equipment, many boards can be fault-found, repaired, tested and returned to service.

RJW’s electronics department has extensive experience repairing complex PCBs and electronic control equipment, supported by industry-leading technology such as ABI BoardMaster.

Swipe through to see how PCB repair works, why it can be a cost-effective alternative to replacement, and when it’s worth considering.

Tom Sutton, who is a part of our reliability team, recently turned his focus to vibration analysis across a number of twin screw compressors and uncovered an interesting finding along the way.

On several machines, we found an accelerometer installed axially on the NDE of the female shaft, despite the axial thrust bearing being located at the opposite end (as per the drawings). It raises a simple but important question: what's the reasoning behind that placement?

Sensor positioning isn't a minor detail, it directly impacts data quality, fault detection, and the decisions made off the back of it.

With sensors correctly configured and properly positioned, the data tells a clear, reliable, and actionable story. Nearly all compressors assessed this week came back in good health.

This Servo Motor came in rough, a serious case of rust had taken hold and it wasn't looking good. But underneath the corrosion, there was a solid motor worth saving.

A big shoutout to our servo motor technician, Tom Alexander, who brought it back to life with fresh bearings, a deep clean, and a lot of TLC.

Once repaired, the motor was fully tested using Octava ORIGIN, helping us catch potential issues before they could turn into costly failures and giving our customer confidence in its reliability and long-term performance.

Nothing beats seeing a piece of equipment get a second life instead of heading to the scrap pile.

Stop replacing expensive industrial PCBs. Start repairing them.

When a critical control board fails, the standard response is often to order a costly replacement from the OEM, assuming it’s even still in production.

At RJW Engineering, we’ve invested heavily in our electronics department to give you a faster, smarter, and significantly more cost-effective alternative by using the ABI Boardmaster. See what this means for your facility➡️

When a critical electric motor fails, replacement is often treated as the default solution. However, a high-quality rewind and repair is frequently the more financially and operationally viable alternative.

Restoring your existing asset can optimise performance, enhance efficiency, and extend equipment lifecycle, all while minimising capital expenditure and lead-time downtime.

Discover how precision rewinding works and how to make the right decision for your facility…

Industrial electric motors are highly reliable, but they rarely fail without warning. Operating under the philosophy of "if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it" inevitably leads to costly, unplanned downtime.

Explore the primary warning signs, their root causes, and how to intervene early to protect your operational efficiency. ➡️
