Job Complete – Buddleia Damage Repaired

We were called in after Buddleia caused major damage to a rear garden wall, growing right through the structure and compromising its integrity.

Our team carefully dismantled the wall, reclaiming as many of the original bricks as possible. We then fully rebuilt it, finishing with coping stones to help prevent future regrowth and protect the wall for years to come.

A solid result and another job well done by the team!

A day of steels 💪🏼 🧱

We use 80x80mm (same height as a brick) steel box sections as needles to carry the weight of the house above the steels. With a trowel of mortar on top to guarantee an even weight distribution from the steel to brickwork.

This method is a lot safer and carries more weight than using traditional strong boys (350kg strongboys vs 1350kg needles) I know which one I’d prefer holding my house up.

This jobs slightly different to normal as it’s a large Victorian house over 3 floors and so is 3 skins thick instead of the normal 2. Hence the size of the steels we’ve installed which wouldn’t look out of place in a car park.

We’ve spec’d these to also take a dormer loft conversion if in the future we decided to add even more space to this mammoth house. Future proofing is something we always think about when designing the houses as a slightly bigger steel now makes life a lot easier in the future.

I cant wait to open this rear up and give this house the size kitchen it deserves
