The team's first bike, the ARION1, was raced in September 2015 at the WHPSC, held in Battle Mountain, Nevada, where the records are governed by the International Human Powered Vehicle Association (IHPVA). Then in September 2016 the team was proud to announce we broke 2 British land speed records, raising the Men's to 76.59mph and raising the Women's by 21mph to 71.05! The University of Liverpool was the first university from the United Kingdom to compete in the internationally prestigious event. Since returning to the UK, work continued on a recumbent style handbike, ARION4, that raced in September 2018. This iteration gained two world records by reaching 51.58 mph and 46.54 mph in the male and female category respectively. After a few non-physical iterations due to the pandemic the eighth iteration is in progress. Arion 8 is a three wheeled trike aiming to compete in the 2025 WHPSC. We are wanting to extend our existing record in both the male and female categories to ensure the record's protection from our competitors.
