…. …..announcement about the Sunday volunteering group……

Helen has been coordinating and generally leading the Sunday volunteer group for the mystery park so far.
She is unable to do the next few months because of other commitments, but hopes to resume after the summer holidays.

We Very much hope this group can continue, and if anyone wants to be made editor for this Facebook group or coordinate via the WhatsApp group, we would be most grateful and happy for this to continue….

Thanks everyone for your support so far and it’s a great step towards keeping the focus on United Utilities and Liverpool city council on improving the park during and after United Utilities have finished their work.

High hopes for the roadside edging on Grant Avenue.. we’ve dug over and scattered lawn Daisy seeds and wildflower seeds. Also found some fragments of Ming dynasty pottery🫣😆..
the next step of this little project is to edge these beds with something/fence!
This will stop the Drive on lawnmower cutting down our flowers.. be nice to think that these beds could be kept going providing interest on the edge of the new United Utilities access Road which is ugly!
I’ll be there next Sunday usual time, if anyone wants to give us a hand building the wall/fence round these new beds?
Also thanks to Adrian and Deleth, and to neighbours for cups of coffee (thanks Adam ) and Tea and dog treats , thanks (Celia) And for some wildflower seeds which I’m drying out from Vicki…

Hello folks. Just to say me n Blewit 🐾will be planting up daisy seeds on Grant Ave road side tomorrow from 9am. There’s some bare earth around the entrance side of the new road that I’ve my eye on 🌼…
Means working by the road side but this should not be too much traffic that time on a Sunday.
Again happy for folk to join me, or carry on planting up the wildflower strips inside the park, but (not much flower seed left now though!) ..
Litter picking or any other suggestions Wellcome xx

This is a snapshot of the result of the Liverpool City Council recent cycling infrastructure consultation .
This is just the page about Grant Avenue and The Mystery Park .

Glad to see they are not going to get rid of the grass verge on Grant Avenue and are going to merge the cycle network by going into the park and having lighting and designated cycle lanes .

Other thing to note is a proposed pedestrian crossing by the Bluecoat School and a possible one on Grant Avenue

Sad to report that network rail continue their chainsaw massacre .. we have all written to them and complained to anyone who is connected or might have influence! Please stop this senseless destruction of trees that are nowhere near the tracks or any infrastructure !

They promise to plant the story low level shrubs on the embankment. Sand have even said they will plant larger trees within The Mystery along the fence line. This autumn

It’s so senseless! why on earth is this so extreme? Never before !!
It’s changed this part of our City for many years to come ! extra pollution, noise pollution nowhere for our wild life and animals to feed and make homes ..

Sorry about the rent, but our hearts break

Lovely little group turned out today🙏🦋more flower seed planting, this time on the other side of the access road.

Also happy that we managed to persuade UU to put a wooden post in on the corner (stop vehicles driving over that corner).

Adrian was on hand to keep Blewit amused and he collected a BIG!! Bag of rubbish (of course)..
Adrian also planted up the wooden planters behind the tennis courts by the ‘let’s talk’ bench ..
If people can keep an eye on this as it’s been vandalised ..anything that’s been pulled out just simply put it back in again please.. also any watering as you go by would be brill! (This for the seed strips as well)..

Had a thought that we could make a little ‘Love The mystery’ flag to put on the new post!
Again, any ideas for next Sunday appreciated perhaps planting some saplings people have in pots or other

Back from a weekend of camping and fully refreshed and ready for a bit more wild flower planting. Please join us this Sunday 31st May from 9am till 11am. meeting as last time at the entrance to the United Util. site.
If digging and planting's not your thing ,feel free to get involved with litter picking or if you have a tree to plant we can help out with that. see you Sunday, Helen x
