A recent conversion of a barn into 2 dwellings, as much of original character has been retained inside and out.
New additions to make the property livable have been done in keeping with the style, including a handmade staircase, traditional kitchens with solid timber worktops and large format limestone flag flooring to the ground floor.
The main heating and hot water in the existing farm house and barn is provided by a biomass pellet fed boiler hidden away in one of the outbuildings, and supplemented by wood burning stoves the in living areas of the barns.

A Substantial project in Mid Wales, the property was built for Living Architecture to plans penned by John Pawson Architects of London.

The building is a single storey structure consisting of 3 bedrooms, a kitchen/living area and contemplation space. built with a multitude of unique materials from across the world including Danish bricks, European Douglas Fir, Italian Terrazzo, German Zinc and many other bespoke items to tie the building together.

Construction is masonry inside and out with contrasting black and white brickwork signifying the separation between areas of the house. The ceilings are Douglas Fir throughout to give the impression of continuous grain. the timber is also used in the majority of joinery in the property, most of which is bespoke to fit the space and to maintain continuity. other items include precast terrazzo basin for the bathrooms, solid stainless steel worktops and custom forged wall hooks and shelves to achieve the finish required by the architects.

Cilthriew House-

An old farm complex consisting of a main house, 2 outbuildings and a barn, the property has been bough by the Papworth Trust. The Papworth Trust is a leading disability charity., their aim is to support disabled people to have equality, choice and independence in their lives.
The scheme is to create a Smallholding where people with disabilities can experience farm life, such as tending to animals, growing their own crops, and generally being able to get out into the countryside.

After the success of the life experiences people were exposed to on Jimmy’s Farm, (as seen on Secret Millions) the Papworth Trust have received funding to create similar experiences all over the country.

The first of these will be Cilthriew House near, Kerry, and we have been awarded the contract to carry out the alterations and improvement works

All the ground floor facilities will be disability friendly; there are plans for a variety of animals to be situated on the surrounding land and facilities for growing a range of different produce.

The build is currently in the very early stages, due to the discovery of hibernating bats. There is ongoing communication with Turnstone Ecology with regards to moving the build forward without causing disruption to its current nocturnal inhabitants.

We will be updating this build as it progresses, allowing you to see the transformation of the premises as it happens.

A £300K plus, extension to The Bracken Trust, which was funded by Macmillan Cancer Support, provides support and information for Cancer patients. The extension comprised offices, therapy treatment rooms and a multi-purpose room which is used for a wide variety of purposes. We had a close working relationship with the Trustees of the Bracken Trust and the Architects, Garner Southall Partnership, which ensured any potential problems were overcome immediately and the finished extension achieved exactly what The Bracken Trust and Macmillan Cancer Support had hoped for. The Bracken Trust has since won an award for the ambiance, layout and quality of their achievements. HRH Prince Charles and HRH Duchess of Cornwall unveiled a plague at The Bracken Trust in recognition of this on 29th June 2011.
