A group of pupils from Ysgol Betws-Y-Coed enjoyed a special visit to Grŵp Cynefin’s new housing development in Betws-y-Coed today.

An important part of creating new homes in our communities is ensuring that estate names reflect local history and local names and words. That’s why Grŵp Cynefin works closely with the local community to choose an appropriate name for any new development. For this estate, we are working with the pupils of the primary school to select a suitable name for the development, which is located directly opposite the school.

To help spark ideas for the new name, the pupils were shown around the site by Dewi Hughes and Damon Gigg from Gareth Morris Construction Ltd, who are building the homes on behalf of Grŵp Cynefin, along with Ffion Roberts from Grŵp Cynefin.

The five-home development is a mix of intermediate rent and social rent properties and is due for completion this summer. If you are interested in living here, please ensure you are registered with Conwy Council’s housing list: https://www.grwpcynefin.org/en/find-a-home/homes-to-rent/homes-to-rent-in-conwy/ or contact Tai Teg: https://taiteg.org.uk/en/application-form

This project is a partnership between Grŵp Cynefin, Conwy County Borough Council, Parc Cenedlaethol Eryri - Eryri National Park, supported by Welsh Government development grants, with support from Betws-y-Coed Community Council.

Yesterday our business had great pleasure in donating £200 to the Conwy Rural Foodbank. This donation will provide much-needed provisions to those who use and rely on this facility, particularly over the festive period.

This initiative was made in partnership with Grwp Cynefin, with whom we are delivering a site of new-build homes in Betws y Coed, which will bring much-needed local affordable homes for the community.

The Picture below shows Cyng/Cllr Nia Clwyd Owen - Llanrwst a Llanddoged receiving the cheque on behalf of the Conwy Rural Foodbank from our Managing Director, Dylan Wyn Jones, with Cllr Liz Roberts (Betws y Coed & Trefriw Ward) and Mari Wynn Tudur of Grwp Cynefin in attendance.

Sgroliwch i lawr i weld y fersiwn Cymraeg.

Through our proactive commitment to Community Benefits we are proud to be supporting the National Eisteddfod 2025, which returns to Wrexham after 14 years with an exciting programme of events commencing this coming Saturday, 2nd August 2025, for a week. This Eisteddfod is the largest cultural festival in Europe, celebrating Welsh arts, literature, and music, with a focus on the Welsh language. The festival is a significant event, attracting large crowds and showcasing the vibrant culture and heritage of Wales. We are delighted to be associated with this prestigious event being held in our home county, and we look forward to welcoming the communities across Wales, and beyond, to Wrexham 2025.

Trwy ein hymrwymiad rhagweithiol i Fuddion Cymunedol, rydym yn falch i gefnogi Eisteddfod Genedlaethol 2025, sy'n dychwelyd i Wrecsam ar ôl 14 mlynedd â rhaglen gyffrous o ddigwyddiadau gan ddechrau ddydd Sadwrn nesaf, 2il Awst 2025, am wythnos. Yr Eisteddfod hon yw'r ŵyl ddiwylliannol fwyaf yn Ewrop, sy'n dathlu celfyddydau, llenyddiaeth a cherddoriaeth Cymru, gan ganolbwyntio ar yr iaith Gymraeg. Mae'r ŵyl yn ddigwyddiad arwyddocaol, sy'n denu torfeydd mawr ac yn arddangos diwylliant a threftadaeth fywiog Cymru. Rydym yn falch iawn o fod yn gysylltiedig â'r digwyddiad mawreddog hwn sy'n cael ei gynnal yn sir ein cartref, ac edrychwn ymlaen at groesawu'r cymunedau ledled Cymru, a thu hwnt, i Wrecsam 2025.

As it is National Apprentice Week, we would like to introduce Ryan who is a GMC first year Carpentry and Joinery Apprentice. Ryan lives in the village where our Head Office is located, he has worked with us since January 2023. He initially did one day a week as work experience, as this was a need of his chosen Year 11 school studies. On leaving school July 2023, Ryan was then employed by us full time and spent his first year gaining experience with various trades, whilst undertaking day release foundation year college studies, this provided Ryan with a comprehensive grass roots understanding of our industry. September 2024, Ryan commenced his Carpentry and Joinery Apprenticeship, with continued day release attendance at Coleg Cambria, Wrexham. It’s great to have seen Ryan’s skills develop over his time to date with us and we look forward to continuing to provide him with the required support to enable his construction industry career to progress. Well done Ryan 👏

At the end of 2024 it was a pleasure to handover our Stad y Felin, Ty Croes, Anglesey, Project to our repeat client Grwp Cynefin. This is the new build of 8nr affordable homes for rent, both houses and bungalows. The client team are very complimentary regarding the excellent quality of work that we have delivered along with our accommodating approach, they have also commented that these homes will clearly provide benefits for the new residents. The success of this scheme is testament to the high level of collaborative working undertaken by all involved with this project. Wakemans Limited. Ainsley Gommon Architects. Egniol Consulting. Oswestry & Borders Foodbank Donation - Prior to our recent holiday shutdown, the thoughts of our team at GMC turned to those less fortunate than ourselves. By personally donating a large collection of essential grocery items and some festive treats to the Oswestry and Borders Foodbank, which weighed in at an impressive 59kg. When members of the team hand delivered these items to the Foodbank, they could clearly see for themselves, the high level of organisation and commitment that the Foodbank staff and their many volunteers give to this much used facility. Hopefully, the kindness and generosity of our team has helped those that use and rely on this facility to enjoy the festive holiday period.
