A huge achievement for EAS sponsored boxer Reo Martin, who has officially joined the Boxing Scotland Next Generation Group.

Reo recently completed a gruelling two weeks of assessments at Boxing Scotland’s National High Performance Centre in Glasgow, earning his place within the squad and the opportunity to train alongside some of the best boxing talent in Scotland.

If you’ve followed us for a while, you’ll have seen Reo’s progress through tournaments and fights across the UK and further afield. Most recently, he won the Exinity International Limassol Box Cup in Cyprus, adding another major achievement to what has already been a brilliant amateur career.

Alongside his boxing, Reo has also recently joined EAS as a trainee and has been balancing his training commitments with starting his career with the business.

He’s worked incredibly hard for this opportunity and we’re proud to have supported him throughout his journey so far.

Congratulations, Reo. We’re looking forward to seeing what comes next!

Since EAS first started, we’ve always been heavily focused on retaining our family values and creating a business where people feel supported and appreciated.

Founded in 2017, EAS officially turned nine years old last week. Reaching that milestone at the same time as achieving this latest recognition feels particularly special, as its something we’ve worked towards from the very start.

We’re incredibly proud to share that Electricity Asset Services has achieved Gold accreditation for both We Invest in People and We Invest in Wellbeing from Investors in People.

Investors in People work with businesses to make sure employees have the structure and support they need from their employer. Gold is one of the highest levels of accreditation they award, with only around 10% of businesses worldwide ever reaching this level.

As EAS and our team have grown over the last nine years, we’ve always wanted to keep those same family values at the heart of the business. Achieving Gold in both accreditations is a huge recognition of that and shows the standards we’ve worked hard to build and maintain.

Most importantly, it reflects the contribution everyone across EAS makes every day. A huge thank you to all of our staff who have helped us reach this point.

Something people may not know about EAS is that we aim to operate as a paperless business in our day to day operations.

This has been a focus since the business started, both to reduce our environmental impact and make the way we work more efficient. Every team on site has a dedicated iPad, giving them access to the information and systems they need to do their job.

We now have over 200 registered devices in use across the business, so making sure these are properly managed and protected is really important.

All of our devices are managed through a Mobile Device Management system. This gives us an added level of security and allows us to manage devices centrally, but it also makes things much easier from an operational point of view. We can push out important updates, security changes and messages across the business without relying on each individual device being updated manually.

With so much of what we do now being digital, protecting the information of our clients, customers and staff is something we take seriously. We’re therefore pleased to have renewed our Cyber Essentials Plus certification for another year.

As part of the renewal, our systems and devices are independently tested to make sure the correct security measures are in place. Passing the audit gives both us and our clients reassurance that the systems we use every day are properly protected.

This has been a great team effort and another important step in our digital journey as a business.

This week, our teams have been supporting EPR Scotland during a planned shutdown at Westfield Power Station in Fife.

Westfield is Scotland’s only poultry litter-fuelled power station and the only facility in the world currently using fluidised bed technology to generate electricity from poultry litter.

The process uses heat from the combustion of poultry litter to produce steam, which drives a turbine and generates electricity. The ash left behind is then supplied to Scottish farmers to use as fertiliser.

We previously attended Westfield to support fault works, so it’s great to be invited back to carry out proactive maintenance during the shutdown.

It’s a unique site to work on and an interesting opportunity for our teams to learn more about a specialist form of renewable energy generation.

Seeing our new training booths in action.

Our Jointing Supervisor, Daryl Steedman, and Design Manager, Richard Wright, recently used the booths to train our surveyors and project managers on cable testing and the jointing process.

The sessions gave the teams the opportunity to work through realistic scenarios, including simulated LV network faults and reverse polarity within cableheads, while developing a better understanding of how issues are identified and resolved on site.

It was great to see the booths fully operational and get a real sense of the difference they will make to our training moving forward, giving our teams more opportunities for practical, hands-on learning in a controlled environment.

Five members of the EAS team have achieved a Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement, commonly known as CAVA.

CAVA is a recognised qualification for people who assess whether a trainee has the skills and knowledge needed to carry out their role.

This supports our continued focus on improving training across the business and will complement our newly developed learning books for our trainees.

Our assessors can now review the trainees’ practical work and confirm whether they have met the required standard within their discipline. This will support training in jointing, civils and electrical enabling works moving forward.

During the five-day course, the team learned how to carry out fair and consistent assessments, produce detailed reports and give clear feedback.

Bringing this capability in-house means we can support employees throughout the training and assessment process while maintaining consistent standards across our sites.

A massive thank you to Tom from Train Aid, who travelled to our Lochgelly HQ to deliver the course.
