🔥 Another one saved by Mad Tech Heads 🔥
Customer snapped their laptop hinge and thought the whole thing was done for.
Stripped it down, replaced the hinge, rebuilt it, tested it… all done in under an hour 💪💻

Bit of a grey bank holiday Monday today 🌥️

Which usually means people are stuck at home noticing all the little tech issues they’ve been putting off 😅

If anything’s been playing up lately — slow laptop, not charging, WiFi issues, printer tantrums — today’s a good time to get it sorted 👍

I’ve got a couple of spaces this week and I come to you, so no need to drag anything anywhere.

And as I always say… if it turns on or makes a noise, there’s a good chance I can fix it 😄

Another week down, another coffee probably needed, and next week is already looking interesting 🙂

Something I’m seeing quite a lot at the moment is browsers doing that annoying thing where they bounce through random pages before finally showing the search results.

If yours is doing that, it’s usually not just your computer having a funny five minutes. Most of the time it’s some unwanted software or a browser hijacker that’s snuck its way in.

Things to watch for:

* searches redirect through odd pages first
* your homepage or search engine changes on its own
* strange popups start appearing
* it keeps coming back after a restart

A good simple tool to try is **AdwCleaner**:
https://www.malwarebytes.com/adwcleaner

Run a scan, let it remove what it finds, and restart the computer.

That often sorts this kind of issue nicely.

Hi everyone 👋

I’ve been a bit quiet this week as I’ve been ill, but I’m back now and ready to get going again 💪

Got a few spaces next week if anyone needs help with anything tech-related — repairs, slow laptops, WiFi issues, websites, that sort of thing.

I also do 4G/5G internet from £30 a month (£69.99 upfront) if your broadband is doing your head in.

I buy working and broken tech too, so if you’ve got an old laptop, phone or anything lying around, I’ll happily take a look.

And if you’re not sure what you need, just ask — advice is always free 👍

💡 If your laptop’s running a bit slow, it probably just needs more RAM or an SSD. I find 90% of slow laptops just need that and don’t need replacing.

Another busy week done 🔧☕

Your local bearded tech guy (powered mostly by coffee at this point 😄)

This week’s been a bit of everything:
Brought an old iPod Video back to life (yes… really)
Fixed a couple of printers doing their usual tantrums
Moved someone’s entire life from an old hard drive to a new one (no pressure 😅)
iPad upgrade and setup
TV repair
Turned off that annoying Gemini thing on a few phones (you’re welcome)
Sorted and dropped off a laptop ready to go

Got a few spaces left next week if anything’s been playing up or driving you mad.
Laptops, PCs, printers, WiFi, TVs, tablets — if it’s got a plug or a screen, I’ve probably seen it before.

Most of what I do is repairs and general tech help, but I can also sort broadband, websites, and car diagnostics if needed.

Quick heads up: with fuel and running costs going up, my pricing has changed slightly:

Quick tip if your computer is running slow 🐢
Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc → open Task Manager → click Performance.

Here’s what to look for (in plain English):

💽 Disk stuck at 100%
If this is maxed out but the others aren’t, it usually means the hard drive is old and struggling.
This is SUPER common on older PCs.
A SSD upgrade is usually the biggest speed boost you can get.

🧠 Memory (RAM) high
If Memory is always high, the PC is running out of “working space”.
For most people these days, I’d say 8GB is the minimum for it to feel decent. I see to many with 4GB

⚙️ CPU high all the time
If CPU is constantly maxed out, the “brain” of the PC is likely just too old/weak for modern Windows and websites. Sometimes you can improve it a bit, but there’s a limit.

I see loads of machines where nothing is “broken”… it’s just tired 😅

🔧 A Little Look Inside a TV — And a Reminder I Don’t Just Fix Phones! 😄

Last week I went to see one of my regular clients after her TV decided it was going to throw a full-on tantrum. Red standby light on… press the button… and nothing.
Pure attitude.

We took the back off, checked the cables, did the proper “IT reset dance,” and the screen teased us by coming on for a second before vanishing again. On this particular model, that’s a classic sign of a faulty mainboard, not the power supply — so a new motherboard is on the way and I’ll have it sorted soon.

And that was just one thing from the last two weeks of madness over at Mad Tech Heads.
Here’s some of what I’ve been fixing:

• Repaired a torch a lovely customer gave me

• Unlocked a very stubborn locked hard drive
