Phil Salter is mixing and mastering engineer from the UK who is keen to work within a wide variety of bands and styles.

As a bassist and guitarist, my passion is to bring out the potential of a song into reality. I love creating rock and metal tracks that really capture that special something, with the spellbinding hook of a good chorus, and powerful riffs that draw you in.

I also love folk music (but don't tell anyone!)

So I sold my Marshall SV20h!

I've known I've wanted the Laney GH50L for a long while and now it's here. Its a pure rock tone but also does great metal tones.

Want to hear how you'd sound though the Laney? DM me with 'reamp' and we can have some nerdy gear chat.

Spoiler warning the answer is yes!
I'm always doing experiments to get the best out of my gear. This time can I get my Rocker 30 (which does an astounding rock tone) to do metal guitars?

I got it sounding right on the amp controls, had a great tone but too loose. I fixed that with an EQ (complete with crazy settings sucking out a lot of low end and a small boost in the highs into an OCD with no gain tightening up the low end further.

Result: a really cool unique rhythm tone that I will 100% have to try on the next release I work on. It's cured my desire for a Rockerverb... For now 😂
