Another week where the importance of having a survey was highlighted, a hull survey of a 1960s Springer Narrowboat with some plate work required after a cabin leak and extensive pitting on the chines followed by the second part of a hull survey on the St Katharine, built in 1927 by Phillip & Son Ltd at Dartmouth. She was registered in London and owned by the Port of London Authority. At the outbreak of the Second World War in 1939 she was requisitioned by the Admiralty and served as a Guardship on the Thames. She was returned to the PLA in 1946, underwent a luxury refit, and was visited by Royalty.
