When we were appointed for this St John’s Wood town house, the goal was ambitious: a lateral basement extension that felt anything but "underground."
By installing a structural walk-on roof light on the patio, we flooded the new living areas with natural light while reinstating the lush garden and summer house above. From the custom bar to the integrated under-stair storage, every detail was crafted for luxury.

The scaffolding is steady, the final tiles are ready, and the skyline of Oakleigh Park South is looking a little more complete today. We are officially gearing up for the topping out ceremony!

This milestone is a huge nod to the hard work of our crew and the precision that’s gone into every inch of this roof. In the roofing world, "topping out" is more than just a tradition—it’s that moment of collective pride when the structure finally meets its highest point.

Why This Milestone Matters

Structural Integrity: The primary skeleton is complete and secured.
Weatherproofing Phase: We’re moving from "exposed to the elements" to "dried-in" and protected.

Community Growth:
Another beautiful addition to the Oakleigh Park neighborhood is nearly under cover.

Fun Fact: The topping out tradition dates back centuries—originally intended to appease tree-dwelling spirits!

While we’re more focused on structural engineering than spirits these days, the celebration of craftsmanship remains the same.

What’s Next?
Once the ceremony concludes and the final piece is set, we’ll be pivoting toward the detailed finishing touches that ensure this roof stands the test of time (and the unpredictable London weather).
