It’s always lovely to hear good news from the gardens we work with.

Huge congratulations to Rose Kennedy Greenway on receiving ArbNet Level I Accreditation. Wonderful to see their living collections recognised in this way.

Havard's in Austin, Texas this week for the Center for Plant Conservation National Meeting.

This year's theme, Preserving Plants, Sustaining Places, focuses on the connection between rare plants, the habitats that support them, and the conservation work taking place across nurseries, seed banks, research collections and natural landscapes.

If you're attending too, come and say hi.

We’re really pleased to feature Shoalhaven Heads Native Botanic Garden as May’s Garden of the Month, taking us back to New South Wales, Australia.

Home to more than 550 native plant species and cared for entirely by volunteers, their story shows what can grow from community care, conservation and some seeds brought back from a holiday.

The passing of Peter Raven
All at BGCI were greatly saddened to hear of the passing of Dr Peter Raven on the 25th April, aged 89. Over almost four decades as President of Missouri Botanical Garden, Peter elevated MBG to Its current leadership role as one of the world’s great botanic gardens. To those of us who got to know Peter well, he will be remembered for his formidable intellect, his drive and his wonderful sense of humour – as well as for emails sent and received at all hours of the night. He will be greatly missed by our community, and BGCI sends its heartfelt condolences to Pat, and Peter’s family. Read the full obituary: https://www.missouribotanicalgarden.org/peter-raven

Havard’s final day at Botanical Bridges Congress 2026 in the Dominican Republic is here after a really valuable week of conversations, ideas, and time spent with others across the botanic garden community.

Alongside the congress itself, he’s also had the chance to enjoy a tour of the gardens and seedbank, as well as hearing St. George Village Botanical Garden present on their redevelopment following Hurricane Maria. They also featured as our Garden of the Month earlier this year - you can read more here:
