What happens when artists, young people and nature come together?

Foraging Connections – now open at Modern Art Oxford – is a powerful example of creativity rooted in place 🌿

Supported by Oxford North’s Engage programme, the exhibition brings together local artists, young people and partners including Modern Art Oxford, IF Oxford the Science and Ideas Festival and Heard and Seen, with workshops in nearby Woods.

Victoria Collett of Thomas White Oxford, said: “This has been a joy to be part of from start to finish. Seeing artists, young people and partners come together - both in Wytham Woods and in the gallery - perfectly captures what Oxford North’s Engage programme is all about. It’s about creating genuine connections, opening up opportunities, and celebrating the creativity and talent within our local community.”

Open now until 14 June 2026, the exhibition is free to visit, no booking required.

International Women's Day 2026 🌟🙌

On International Women's Day we are celebrating three inspirational women who have shaped Oxford North in different ways. We asked Dr Elodie Siney and Professor Dame Kay Davies as key female leaders involved at Oxford North to share their views, and we honour Elizabeth Fallaize, for whom our park is named.

“Women in tech are continuing to make a real impact in the ecosystem,” said Dr Elodie Siney, Operations Manager, Oxford North.

“It’s vital we celebrate their achievements and continue to foster an environment of equality and break down barriers to keep promoting female talent.

“Empowering women is critical to continued success and innovation,” said Professor Dame Kay Davies, Chair of Oxford North's Science Committee.

“Being a scientist is one of the most rewarding ways of contributing to improving society and so many talented females are pushing the boundaries in STEM and they should be celebrated".

Fallaize Park, the heart of our innovation district is named in honour of the late Professor Elizabeth Fallaize, who had a brilliant career both in research and academic management. In 1990, she became the first female fellow of St John’s College, Oxford then professor of French at the university, and, in 2005, its pro-vice-chancellor for education.

In the science and technology sectors, where women remain underrepresented, International Women’s Day is a compelling reminder of the continued need for inclusivity, equality and recognition of female innovators.

National Apprenticeship Week 🎉

In celebration of National Apprenticeship Week, we have been celebrating the vital role apprentices play and the positive impact high-quality training and development opportunities have on individuals, businesses and the wider economy.

At Oxford North, apprenticeships are designed as structured pathways into sustained employment, rather than isolated placements. We recognise that apprenticeships are a powerful route into long-term, fulfilling careers, offering hands-on experience alongside structured learning, guidance and progression.

In total, 64 apprentices worked in construction roles on Phase One of the development. We are proud to have facilitated this level of opportunity which exceeded our original target of delivering 61 apprenticeships. The project has created more than 2,000 construction jobs of which 28% are people who live locally.

We are particularly grateful for the support of our construction companies - Careys, Laing O'Rourke, Mace, Maylim and Hill Group UK – all of which took on apprentices at Oxford North 🙏

Volunteers from across our project team have delivered a wonderful community initiative giving Wolvercote Primary School and Wolvercote Young Peoples Club a new lease of life

It has resulted in a new SEND sensory garden at Wolvercote Primary School and enhanced building and outdoor space at WolvercoteYPC

We’re thrilled with the results delivered in a joint effort by our construction partners Maylim, Mace, Careys, LockMetal, Hill Group UK and Storey Consulting 🙏

The new sensory garden is a safe and nurturing environment for children with educational needs, where they can explore textures, smells and sounds to support their learning and wellbeing

The climate resistant plants we have at Fallaize Park have also been planted in the primary school’s new garden to create a connection for the children when they visit us

During a two-week period, 43 people volunteered for more than 531 hours to deliver both projects

The initiative demonstrated how real estate development can deliver positive social value for local communities through place-based volunteering, with people coming together to support children and young people in meaningful ways 🤝

We hope many youngsters enjoy the space for many years to come
