The next decisive SAF technology may be agronomy.

SAF conversations tend to begin with pathways, refinery capacity, mandates and offtake. But long before fuel reaches a refinery, the biological system has already set many of the commercial boundaries.

For SAF, tonnes per hectare are only the opening metric. Eligibility, lifecycle carbon, composition, harvest timing, storage, traceability, preprocessing and delivered cost determine whether a crop can become a credible industrial feedstock.
