🏠 What does an Energy Assessor actually check during an EPC visit?
Many people think an EPC assessment is just "someone coming with a tablet." In reality, we collect information that affects your property's energy efficiency rating.
During a typical EPC visit, we usually check:
✅ Boiler type and heating system
✅ Hot water system
✅ Windows (double glazing, age, efficiency)
✅ Loft insulation (if accessible)
✅ Wall construction type
✅ Lighting efficiency (LED / low energy bulbs)
✅ Radiators and heating controls (TRVs, programmer, thermostat)
✅ Property dimensions and layout
✅ Number of floors and room setup
✅ Solar panels or renewable systems (if installed)
📱 The assessment itself usually takes around 15–30 minutes, depending on the property.
The goal is simple — produce an accurate Energy Performance Certificate and identify ways your property could improve efficiency.
