We attended the Leicester & Leicestershire Property and Construction Lunch yesterday at The City Rooms!

Packed with insightful presentations and discussions about the future of the property and construction sectors in the region – we had the chance to look at the strategic vision of the Leicestershire Council Local Plan and discussed investment and infrastructure planning and development.

Key speakers included Bill Cullen, Chief Executive of Hinckley & Bosworth Borough Council and Julia Smith, Chief Executive of Blaby District Council.

We very much look forward to seeing these plans come to life in the region, unlocking many opportunities for Leicestershire.

We had a fantastic time at today’s ‘Celebrating & Connecting Business in Charnwood event.’

Held at Charnwood Campus Science, Innovation, and Technology Park, it was a great opportunity to connect with local businesses, hear from inspiring guest speakers, and learn more about the valuable business support in the region.

The event also celebrated the success of businesses supported by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) through the Loughborough Emerging Startup Accelerator and Scale Up programme.

This week we asked the team to share their thoughts on why being a Quantity Surveyor is a good career option. They were eager to have their say, so here’s what a few of the team came back with. Part 2 coming soon…

‘Being a QS is great because you are part of the vast construction industry, which ranges from building a small extension on a house, to complete houses, offices, schools, roads, bridges, sewers and other vital aspects of daily life. You can contribute first hand to the success of projects without needing a trade.’

‘A career as a QS brings with it opportunities – if you want your career to take a certain path you can with effort, normally make it happen.
If you want to work abroad, on the tallest buildings or work remote/desk based. There are normally the roles out there.’

‘A QS career offers endless opportunities to work in numerous construction sectors, all with specific challenges which provide day-to-day variety, whilst constantly meeting and working alongside different people whether that be UK based or abroad.’

Following the successful completion of the refurbishment of Alice Street, Derby, we are pleased to be appointed again by Liversage Trust for the remodelling and refurbishment of their Alms Houses on London Road, Derby.

We are again working alongside Matthew Montague Architects on the Grade 2 Listed residential properties which will be phased over a two-year period.

We’re excited to share that we’ve added a drone to our toolbox!

Today we have been out and about getting familiar with controls and putting our new equipment to good use.

The drone will assist us at the feasibility stage to confirm the extent of works required to existing buildings, alongside recording progress on site throughout the construction phase.

We are looking forward to using the drone for future schemes!

Leicester Grammar School is now underway!

Bailey Construction has started on site this week and the £2 million project includes the design and construction of a four-court sports hall.
