Our awards and aircraft at the UAS challenge 2016.

We are pleased to announce that we are the overall champions of the UAS Challenge 2016! Not only that, we also picked up the sub category prizes for best 'Design' 'Manufacture' and 'Flying Operations'. Its fair to say we had a very successful entry into the competition this year, but this would not have been possible if it were not for all of our sponsors, support from Loughborough University academic staff, departmental technicians and the department finance team, so we would like to say a big thank you to you all.

UAS testing process is well underway. Since the first flight we've had several days of testing and have been further refining the aircraft. This video shows some of the highlights of that process so far. We are preparing to demonstrate our aircraft to Loughborough University next week

We had a blast at the LMA airshow last Saturday! A big thank you to the Large Model Assosiation once again for giving us the chance to be at this fantastic event :)

We would like to say a big thank you to the Large Model Association for having us at their airshow yesterday. The aircraft flew a successful 5 minute display and had the chance to show off what it can really do! It's a shame the payloads didn't survive the drop, looks like we have a bit more work to do before the competition.

UAS first flight has been achieved! A few days ago we successfully flew the aircraft for the first time and a video has been produced with the footage taken. This can be seen on youtube below. This marks the beginning of a long test campaign to ensure the aircraft is up to the task.

We have been busy in the workshop and materials lab the past two weeks in order to get our carbon fibre fairing ready for our aircrafts maiden flight. It was a challenging project and something never attempted in the aeronautical engineering department before and so we are especially pleased to say it was a successful build!

We have been working hard on our aircraft build over Easter and are hoping to get a first flight next week! Just waiting on our aerodynamic fairing and a few other small bits of detail and then we are ready for take off!
