Why Surface Preparation Decides Whether a Resin Floor Lasts or Fails
Most people focus on the resin system, epoxy, PU, MMA, colours, finishes, all of that.
But the truth is simple
If the prep isn’t right, the floor won’t last.
Here’s what proper preparation actually looks like:
•Diamond grinding the slab to remove laitance / open the concrete
•Edge prep / spot grinding where larger machines can’t reach (the part most people skip)
•Vacuum the area to make sure the surface is dust free
•Checking for weak spots, cracks and moisture before any resin goes down
This part of the job isn’t glamorous, but it’s the difference between a floor that fails in 6 months and a floor that performs for years.
At ActiCrete, most of the quality you see at the end comes from the work you don’t see at the start.
That’s why our floors stay down, stay bonded and keep performing.
Good prep isn’t optional. It’s the foundation of every floor we install.
If you’re planning a new project or looking to refurbish an existing floor, we would be happy to discuss how we can help.
