Is your riverbank eroding? Are your gardening efforts ruined by periodical flooding?

Here at Holland’s Groundworks we have recently completed a successful job to protect a clients garden in Sutton, Cheshire, from further erosion and periodical flooding by the River Bollin.

We began by using our 6 ton excavator to install reinforced steel sheet piles along the length of the bank, we then installed land drainage and weep holes to eliminate the chances of the ground behind the wall becoming saturated, We then backfilled the exposed area with 14mm clean stone and concrete, before finishing it off with top soil and landscaping the surface lastly seeding with grass seed.

Here we have a project we’ve recently completed in Woodford, covering all aspects of the clients groundwork’s needs:

Is your riverbank eroding? Are your gardening efforts ruined by periodical flooding?

Here at Holland’s Groundworks we have recently completed a successful job to protect a clients garden in Prestbury, Cheshire, from further erosion and periodical flooding by the River Bollin.

We began by using our 6 ton excavator to install reinforced steel sheet piles along the length of the bank, while carefully preserving the clients preexistent ground source heating pipework. We then backfilled the exposed area with 14mm clean stone concrete, before finishing it off with top soil and landscaping the surface.

As requested by the client, we then installed a post and wire balustrade along the river, and built three raised beds, so making what was previously a dangerous and eroded bank into a great new useable garden space. To finish the job we resurfaced the driveway, installing 20mm Staffordshire pink stone. The most satisfying part of our job is being able to leave a site much improved on how we found it, and this job certainly provided that. And the best part: a very happy customer!

Here at Holland’s Groundworks we don’t only carry out work on large construction projects, we can also provide services to meet all your smaller landscaping needs.

Here are some recent smaller landscaping jobs we’ve completed:

- We’ve installed new footpaths to allow ease of access to all parts of woodland and gardens, causing minimal damage.
- We’ve installed road ways and tracks to allow easy access to hard to reach places, allowing our client to better manage their land, and install infrastructure around them.
- We’ve dug off and removed the soil from domestic driveways, laying a fresh MOT sub base in its place.

Sewage treatment plants.

Here at Holland’s Groundworks we are specialist drainage and foundation contractors.

Here is a recent job we’ve completed.

We recently completed the full installation of a sewage treatment plant for a wonderful customer in Bollington, Cheshire.

At this job we chose to install a Klargester Bioficient 1 sewage treatment plant, a multipurpose tank that we find to be very well suited to almost all houses requiring their own sewage systems. One major benefit of the Bioficient 1 is that as it’s agitation system is powered from an external pumping station, should anything go wrong (however unlikely), accessing it is made much simpler, and it should be an easy fix.

This job also saw us installing a 5.85m3 soakaway and silt trap. The purpose of this soakaway was to allow the cleaned runoff of the Klargester Bioficient 1, and the surface water gathered by the guttering on the house and outbuildings, to soakaway naturally into the ground.

We also installed all the underground drainage and pipe work necessary, and the associated manholes. Here we were presented with a considerable geological challenge - the solid Bollington bedrock into which the house is built put up quite the fight! Our perseverance with a specialist pecking attachment eventually paid off though, and there was a good deal of job satisfaction in seeing it completed well.

Our final work at this job was to return the site to its previous condition, so we then began to carefully reinstate all of the York stone paving around the house - another exercise in which patience and attention to detail can lead to the satisfaction of happy customers, and a job well done.
