109m² resurfaced following an emergency repair.

After a Thames Water pipe burst, our team was on site to get the carriageway back to standard.

We removed the damaged surface at 110mm then laid AC 20 binder course at 70mm. Following that, we laid SMA 10 surface course at 40mm. To finish off, we re-lined the carriageway.

As always, delivered to a tight schedule with no compromise on quality.

Big job on a busy road, with no disruption to the plan 📋

We're out on Godstone Road working alongside Forefront Utilities to deliver a major gas main replacement for SGN. This is 900m of 15" main being swapped out over a 4 month programme ⏳

This isn't a simple TM setup - here's what's involved:
• Complex site-specific traffic management designed and delivered
• Concrete bollards installed to safeguard a nearby level crossing
• Regular meetings with the Local Authority to design and adapt TM as the project grows
• 24 hour site cover provided at Local Authority request

Phase one traffic management has been successfully mobilised with minimal issues! ✅

Proud of the team effort between Ferns Traffic Management and Forefront Utilities on this one 👏

Work underway in Berkely Square, Mayfair! 🏙️

Our Forefront Utilities Team is on site carrying out a 14" low pressure large diameter main replacement for Cadent in central London 👷‍♂️

We’ve supplied all plant and machinery in-house on this one - workforce, equipment, the lot. A true one stop shop for our clients, keeping things simple and delivery smooth 🔄

Green Lane, Thornton Heath 📍

Our Ferns Surfacing Team working for another Thames Water project. We completed:
➡️ 100mm of damaged carriageway removed
➡️ 60mm AC20 binder course installed
➡️ 40mm SMA10 surface course laid
➡️ 140m² reinstated

Line marking was carefully carried out to complete the job ✅

Here are some works we completed on our Cadent Gas contract on the A406 North Circular near Wembley, with lanes 1 and 2 closed to facilitate the repairs ⚠️

Once the reinstatement was released, we acted quickly to complete the works, enabling lane 3 to be excavated for the final gas leak to be safely repaired 🙌

Each reinstatement included backfilling, reinforced lower-level concrete installation, and SMA surfacing. As well as this, every section was completed within a D+2 programme 🪨

Following completion, our road sweeper team attended site to thoroughly clean the carriageway, ensuring the area was left safe and ready for traffic ✅

From emergency response and reinstatement, to final site clearance, Ferns is committed to delivering high quality infrastructure works safely and efficiently 👷‍♂️

Work underway on Royal Engineer's Road in Maidstone!

Our team is on site for Redrow Homes carrying out 278 works including footpath widening to incorporate a new cycle lane. We are also upgrading pedestrian crossings for cyclist use, and replacing all traffic signal apparatus across three crossings 🚧

We are working to improve accessibility and safety for pedestrians and cyclists, delivered to the highest standard within a 6 week programme ✅

A great example of Ferns Group companies working together 🤝

Following a gas main diversion carried out by Forefront Utilities, Ferns Surfacing completed the carriageway reinstatement works, including:

➡️Planing 215m² of existing carriageway at 40mm depth
➡️Relaying with SMA 10 surface course
➡️Reinstating road markings
➡️Applying 33m² of grey High Friction Surfacing to complete the scheme

Precision where it counts 👏

Our vacuum excavator makes light work of exposing underground services. They are able to excavate efficiently without damage to existing infrastructure 🚧

Unlike traditional digging methods, vacuum excavation isn’t destructive, allowing buried utilities stay protected and reinstatement costs are kept to a minimum. It also meets strict safety and compliance standards, keeping our teams and the public safe ✅

And here’s the best bit, the collected material is recycled and reused within the highway network, helping us minimise our carbon footprint ♻️
