🎉 Two years already! ⚡👏

Today marks two years since Joss joined JR Revell as an apprentice electrician, and what a two years it's been. 💪

From day one, he's just got on with it. Hard working, reliable, eager to learn and a genuinely great lad to have as part of the team. 👌 He's got a natural ability for the trade and has never fallen into the stereotype people often associate with apprentices. 🙌

Whether it's on site, in the classroom or getting involved in every extra activity we throw at the team, Joss is always there with a positive attitude. 💯 In September he'll move into his NVQ portfolio year, another big milestone on the road to becoming a fully qualified electrician. 🎓⚡

We're proud of both of our apprentices. Joss and Charlie have set the standard. They turn up every day, work hard, ask questions, take pride in what they do and have become valued members of the business.

We also believe apprentices deserve better than being the person who only sweeps floors and makes tea. They're here to learn a trade, so we invest time in coaching them properly, giving them responsibility and helping them become skilled electricians.

With Joss reaching his third year, we're now looking for our next apprentice to join us this September.

We're looking for someone who:
⚡ Is at least 17 years old
⚡ Lives in Essex
⚡ Is already driving or will be driving soon
⚡ Wants a genuine long term career, not just a job
⚡ Is prepared to work hard, learn and become part of the team

Some projects stay with you.

We were on site the day the Ford dealership left. Today, it is a five-storey self-storage facility incorporating 34 artist studios.

We've now completed the defects liability period for a scheme that, at the time, represented the largest-value contract in JR Revell's history.

Our involvement started long before handover. Working closely with the client and project team, JR Revell supported the development from pre-construction through to completion, delivering a comprehensive M&E package across the entire building.

Our scope included:

📋 Tender package preparation
⚡ Full M&E design
🔌 Temporary site power and services
🏗️ Utility disconnections and coordination
💡 Electrical distribution and lighting
🔥 Fire alarm systems
💨 AOV smoke ventilation systems
🚒 Dry riser systems
🔒 Security and access control
☀️ Solar PV installation
🔋 EV charging infrastructure
🌐 Data, networking and WiFi infrastructure
🌡️ Ventilation, heating and cooling systems
🚻 Welfare facilities and WCs

The real measure of any project isn't practical completion. It's how the building performs once people move in.

Throughout the entire defects liability period, only five minor issues were reported across the development, all of which were resolved quickly by our team.

Considering the scale, complexity and value of the project, that's a result we're incredibly proud of.

Projects like this reflect what JR Revell is all about. Supporting clients from the earliest planning stages through to long-term operation, taking ownership and delivering solutions that perform long after handover.

🎉 Big shoutout to Jack Marlow, who is celebrating 5 amazing years with JR Revell! 🎉
We honestly wouldn’t be without him.

Known to us all as Mr Testing, Jack joined the team after retraining as an electrician and has gone from strength to strength ever since, including achieving his 2391 Electrical Inspection and Testing qualification.

He is now a fully fledged JR Revell legend, keeping standards high and helping mentor our apprentices along the way.
With his patience, knowledge, and love of helping others learn, he is the perfect person to guide the next generation.

Thanks for everything you do, Jack.

Yet somehow everyone still wants us when the power goes off.

Funny that.

Here’s the side of electrical contracting most people never see.

That’s where Bryan Stanford, our Design Manager, and the wider JR Revell team come in.

Bryan started on the tools as an electrician, progressed into project management, and now leads our electrical and mechanical design department.

By 10am:
🥵 The plant room feels like a sauna
🕶️ Everyone’s suddenly an expert on “cross ventilation”
🥤 Cold drinks become site currency
🍔 And standing near rooftop containment basically counts as grilling yourself

Fair play to every team out there keeping projects moving this week.
