Here we’re looking at a major structural renovation in progress.
In the first image, the interior of the house has been completely opened up. The ceiling has been stripped back to expose the timber joists, and the original load-bearing wall has been removed. Temporary vertical support props are installed along the length of the opening to safely carry the weight of the structure above while the permanent support is put in place. You can see timber bracing holding everything aligned, and sections of old masonry still visible where the wall once stood. This stage is all about making the space safe before any permanent steel is installed.
In the second image, we move outside to the front of the same opening. Two mechanical lifting frames are positioned beneath the roofline. These are being used to carefully raise and position a large structural steel beam. The wall has been temporarily boarded up, and the area below is reinforced with timber platforms to spread the load. This allows the steel beam to be lifted slowly and precisely without putting stress on the building.
In the third image, the steel beam is now fully installed inside the opening. The temporary wall has been removed, revealing a wide-span opening that will become large sliding doors. The steel beam above is carrying the load that was previously supported by the wall, allowing for this open-plan design. The door frame is already in place, and the space now opens directly to the garden. This marks the transition from structural work to finishing stages, where the area will be insulated, plastered, and completed.
