So we acid stripped it totally to remove all old paint coating then media blast to remove rust and spray in an oxide undercoat.

to be a very small crack.

Acid cleaning and descaling is a very good way of finding or showing up very small cracks.

You would not think so but this is a very large copper dish, we were asked if we could remove the crud and get it back to looking like a copper dish.
What we have done, ideally the customer now needs to take it to a metal polisher if they want a mirror finish.
