It’s time for another day in the life of one of our newest McBride colleagues! This time, it’s Jakob Pedersen – a passionate rower and golfer, and Plant Manager of our Hammel site.

“I was really keen to join McBride because I love the fast pace of competing in the FMCG world, where decisions quickly turn into action, and there’s a great balance between operations and strategy.

“A typical day for me involves the general management of our team in Hammel – I’m committed to improving safety, quality, delivery and cost. I’m very focused on making sure we have a good internal culture, and that everyone has plenty of opportunities for personal development. And of course, I’m always working to make sure our customers’ orders leave the factory on time.”

Join us in the comments to welcome Jakob to the McBride team.

At McBride’s Bagnatica site in northern Italy, our colleagues have been busy expanding our internal bottle production – and strengthening efficiency across the entire site’s operations in the process.

While Bagnatica has always produced some of its own bottles, over the past two years the site has increased its internal capacity – bringing more and more production in-house (rather than relying on external suppliers). This included revamping its existing blow-moulding equipment and even installing a new PET blow-moulding machine in 2024 – the latter capable of producing an impressive 15 million bottles per year!

Producing plastic bottles in the same place where they are filled and packed helps us to streamline our supply chain, reducing the need for transport from external manufacturers and aligning bottle production more closely with demand, which improves Bagnatica’s operational efficiency and its environmental impact at the same time.

It is helping us to be more sustainable in other ways, too. The bottles we produce on site use largely recyclable plastic, and our colleagues constantly monitor and improve the balance between recycled and virgin materials as part of our wider environmental focus.

The expansion has allowed us to optimise our output without changing our workforce. By upgrading our technology, we've significantly improved efficiency and results with our current team. It’s a really practical example of how in-house innovation can create a positive impact across the board!

We’ve got great news to share today — our Foetz site has just passed the 1000 day mark without a single lost-time incident! That means no incidents for more than two and a half years. Congratulations!

As always, this is testament to the hard work, commitment and conscientiousness of our colleagues, who work together everyday to make sure no corners are cut, and everyone goes home safe at the end of their shifts.

To celebrate reaching this magnificent milestone, McBride is rewarding all our colleagues on the Foetz shop floor with a €30 voucher, and there will be coffee and pastries on site for everyone in the office too.

Please join us in celebrating our Foetz site and our hard-working colleagues!

Ask anyone at McBride’s Sallent site in Spain to tell you their favourite day of the year, and there’s a high chance they’ll say Sant Jordi's Day – also known as the Day of Books and Roses.

On the 23rd of April every year, Catalonia celebrates the legend of Sant Jordi killing a dragon and saving a princess, with everyone marking the occasion by exchanging books and roses.

At McBride Sallent, we celebrate by setting up a little stall outside the main entrance and presenting all 200+ of our colleagues (and any suppliers or partners who visit) with a rose.

It’s a lovely way to mark a very special day in our calendar, and it always brings a smile to everyone’s face. In nearby Barcelona, bookshops are packed out, stalls selling handmade crafts and snacks line the streets, and live performances keep everyone entertained.

We also organised an art competition, which saw children from the McBride community submitting drawings that depicted St Jordi’s day, before the winner took home two books of their choice. With beautiful sketches of knights and princesses, castles and dragons, we clearly have some very talented young people in our midst!

One of our top priorities at McBride is ensuring that every one of our 3,500 colleagues has access to a wide range of training and personal development opportunities. Whether working from our offices or based in one of our manufacturing factories, we believe everyone at McBride should have the chance to develop their skills and create the career path that's right for them.

That's why we created our ‘Let's Grow’ development programmes. Whether you're taking the time to reflect as an individual contributor, you're a first-line manager building up your skill set, or you're a senior leader who has been invited to participate in our strategic programme, we've developed a suite of three tailored courses for McBride colleagues.

Delivered in multiple languages through both classroom and live virtual sessions, the courses have the added benefit of bringing together colleagues from different countries and divisions – helping you to extend your network while you learn.

In Denmark, our Holstebro site is in the midst of an important transformation — eliminating odour and reducing noise and visible steam emissions to create a cleaner, quieter environment for the local community.

When the Holstebro site was founded 98 years ago, it was outside of the city, surrounded by fields. Today, nearly a century later, the region is much more residential — a natural evolution that has brought a real sense of responsibility for us to minimise our impact on those who live nearby.

Over the past few weeks, the team has been actively collaborating with external experts, conducting in-depth discussions and organising multiple brainstorming sessions to develop innovative and practical solutions. We have already committed to a significant investment in this project, which will include a new filtration system, an odour-monitoring system and comprehensive engineering works.

These efforts are already showing promising results. Continuous measurements indicate clear and encouraging progress in both emission reduction and noise control. We've also already cut our odour impact levels by 60% — a significant drop that shows our technical changes are working.

Sustainability and transparency are at the heart of McBride's values, so it's really important to us that we're open and honest about this process. We understand how the odour and visible steam could affect some of our neighbours, and we’re deeply committed to investing in solutions to these issues.

This isn't a temporary fix: it's a long-term solution, and we'll be keeping you updated as we progress.

Have you ever been at work and thought to yourself, “I know what would make this better?”

At McBride, we encourage all of our colleagues to share their suggestions – with the promise that we’ll consider each one seriously.

And who knows – your idea might end up transforming the whole business! Just look at our Strzelce site in Poland, where the employee suggestion programme saw 277 ideas submitted in 2025 – around 100 of which have been put into action!

One fantastic suggestion was to reduce the number of angle brackets attached to pallets, which has already allowed us to reduce our cardboard waste by an impressive 89 tons.

Another suggestion introduced the possibility of re-use during our preform process, as well as optimising our PET bottle-filling process and waste-reduction system – small changes that have saved 10 tons of plastic waste.

And the impact isn’t only environmental. Together, these ideas have saved the Strzelce site more than £15,000.

“These are brilliant examples of something good for the planet being good for business as well,” says Tomasz Jarmuszewski, CI manager at McBride. “We’re excited to hear our colleagues’ suggestions in 2026.”

At McBride, we see first-hand how supporting our local communities is just as important as driving innovation in our business.

That’s why we were so proud to contribute £2,575 to Tree, a charity in Manchester that's working tirelessly to create opportunities to improve economic wellbeing and secure homes for people in need.

This donation (funded through the McBride UK Savings Scheme) will directly support Mustard Tree's incredible work combating poverty and preventing homelessness across Greater Manchester — at a time when need and demand are growing by the day.

Every month, more than 10,000 people seek Mustard Tree’s services. In October alone, more than 12,000 people walked through their doors — a record number, and a real indicator of how many people are struggling.

This means Mustard Tree urgently needs organisations like us to fundraise, advocate and make donations in order to keep going.

“When a group like yourselves decide to help, it is doubly impactful – not just the tangible difference you make in helping Mustard Tree meet this unprecedented need, but also how reassuring it is that people are happy and able to help,” wrote Rachel Crank, Mustard Tree’s Corporate and Events Fundraising Officer in a letter to McBride. “Your support allows Mustard Tree to help brilliant people build themselves back up, at a time when there are so many ways to fall down.”

Helping our local community will always be at the heart of McBride’s values.

For 64 years, our site in Foetz, Luxembourg, has kept its people at the heart of everything it does — and its people have shown a tireless commitment to producing great products.

With a focus on producing dishwasher tablets and powders, Foetz is the biggest plant within McBride’s Unit Dosing division, responsible for manufacturing high-quality, single-dose and powdered solutions for customers across Europe.

The site’s commitment to sustainability deserves particular celebration. In recent years, Foetz has developed 12g tabs, with reduced hydro-soluble flow wrap, helping us to cut down on packaging materials while improving our transport efficiency — lowering both waste and emissions! After all, smaller tabs mean more tabs per truckload, and ultimately fewer trucks on the roads.

The site has also taken proactive steps to track and reduce its energy consumption, and has implemented an innovative new approach for identifying any air leaks that occur during the weekend.

Together, all these efforts reflect the Foetz site's strong internal culture and forward-thinking mindset.

It’s not enough for McBride alone to have validated science-based climate targets – we’re also committed to engaging with our suppliers and supporting them in measuring their own emissions and setting their own targets, too.

One great example of this is Lammerant – one of our cardboard suppliers, based in Belgium. Back in November 2024, we spoke with their team about our sustainability commitments, and they were incredibly enthusiastic about supporting us in achieving our goals.

Within six months of that first conversation, Lammerant had started tracking its scope 3 emissions, signed McBride’s new supplier code of conduct and made a commitment to set its own science-based targets.

We are delighted to be working with McBride and they have encouraged us to measure our scope 3 carbon emissions and for introducing us to the SBT initiative,” says Mathias Lammerant, Plant Manager at Lammerant. “Over recent years, we’ve all seen and felt the effects of the climate crisis firsthand, and it’s important that we all push ourselves to do our bit to protect the planet, at every stage of the supply chain.”

How does your business work with its suppliers to promote sustainability? We’d love to hear your stories in the comments!
