🏏 Alex & Chris have swapped the tools for the cricket bat! 😂

The lads headed down to the Baxenden Car Breakers Charity Cricket Match for a great day supporting an even better cause. 💙

But the real question is… can Alex and Chris actually play cricket? 👀🏏

How is my business actually doing?

Call me paranoid, call me untrusting or call me a control freak, but I NEED to know EVERYTHING that’s going on in our businesses.

This is our wall of duty 📺

Real-time updates from the guys (top left), vehicle tracking (bottom left), CCTV from our main sites (top right), main inbox (lower middle), grab and aggregate workflow (top middle) and Sky News (bottom right).

My long-term ambition is body cams on the guys, BUT I know that’s a bit Big Brother..but imagine how good that would be in construction!

It’s not because I don’t trust our team; it’s because I think information…especially in real time, is the key to making the best decisions.

We react to what we’re seeing. Who’s nearest to a problem? How can we fix an issue? What situation do we need to sort next? Are we hitting our milestones?

All of this is streamed right into our info wall at HQ…as it happens!

If the wall was big enough, I’d have eight more screens!

My view is that we literally spend £10,000s a day on labour, logistics and materials, so why wouldn’t I want to know how it’s all being deployed?

I just love looking up and seeing where we’re at.

Has anyone else got a setup like this? Is this the way forward?

OR am I just too insecure?

This is my hallway.
I’m posting this here not to brag (someone always has a nicer hallway than you!) 😂
However, for me, it serves as a reminder.
I was born on a council estate called Beswick, in the heart of Manchester. It’s now a pretty desirable place to live thanks to the noisy neighbours, BUT in the early 1980s, it was a pretty tasty place to grow up.
Those roots taught me a few things. Absolutely nothing happens in life unless YOU make it happen. Hard work beats talent, luck and waiting.
It also made me streetwise, grounded and humble.
But most importantly, it taught me that success can NEVER be taken for granted.
So, about my hallway…
I’m pretty proud of it. Turn left and you’re in my office. Turn right and you’re in my cinema room. But walk forward (to the left, 11 o’clock — not right… that’s the WC 😂) and my family is there waiting for me at the end of every day.
It’s that family that drives me to keep working, taking the knocks and rolling the dice.
When I walk through the front door at the end of a hard day, I often remember those early days in Beswick. I smile to myself and think about how far I’ve come.
But then I s**t myself and remember that EVERYTHING is earned and EVERYTHING can be lost.
But I do love taking that turn to the left (11 o’clock) at the end of a hard day…
I’m doing it ALL for them.

Laughing or crying? Sometimes in business, it’s both 😂

Things move so fast that your emotions don’t always have time to catch up.

One minute you’re celebrating a small win, an order lands on time, an invoice gets paid, a plan finally comes together… then BOOM 💥 there’s another problem waiting for you.

Another phone call. Another email. Another fire to put out.

But that’s business.

There will be good days, bad days, wins and lessons. The key is not to get too carried away by either.

Stay calm. Stay in control. Deal with the facts and keep moving forward.

And get used to pulling some seriously weird faces along the way 😂

Every problem is just another part of the game.

🇬🇷 Chris is away in Greece… so the rest of the lads have had to take over! 😂

With Chris out of the country, this week’s YouTube video looks a little different, with the team stepping up and showing you what’s been going on across the business.

But don’t worry, Chris hasn’t completely escaped! 😂 He’s still keeping up with everything from Greece with constant updates and making sure he knows exactly what’s happening back home.
