The Manchester Botanical Gardens, also known as The Firs, is a beautiful, green area that houses a variety of interesting and exotic plants. With open allotments and heated greenhouses, there are many different environments to see, from the tropics to the mediterranean, from venus fly traps to banana trees! Situated just east of Fallowfield, the site is run by the department of life sciences and i

s often used as a space to house ongoing experiments. It's also a great resource for the student body, as a place of study or even as a place with opportunities to volunteer. The department of life sciences is thinking of cutting funding to the The Firs and it needs your interest. You can show your support by simply visiting the site or even volunteering through student action. You can also sign up for one of the tours running just after Easter. See the wall for more details.
