Another productive day in Doncaster carrying out an unannounced site audit and showing Alyssia the ropes. A great opportunity to walk through our audit process, highlight what we look for on live projects, and reinforce the standards that keep Innov8 operating safely, compliantly and consistently across all sites.

Strong performance from the team on the ground today — good housekeeping, clear segregation, correct PPE, and solid control measures in place. Always nice to have a smiley face on site despite the weather! 🌧️🙂

At Innov8 UK Group, we specialise in managing both licensed and non-licensed asbestos works as part of our comprehensive asbestos removal and demolition services. With over 50 years of combined experience and a hands-on management approach, we customise each project to the specific material type, site conditions, and overall programme, ensuring safety, compliance, and progress.

Licensed Asbestos Work involves:

✅ Higher-risk materials such as Asbestos Insulating Board (AIB), pipe insulation, thermal insulation, sprayed coatings, and contaminated debris.
✅Conducted by HSE-licensed contractors under strict legal controls (CAR 2012).
✅Submission of an ASB5 14-day notification to the HSE prior to work commencement.
✅Operation under full enclosure, negative pressure, airlocks/bag-locks, and decontamination procedures.
✅Independent UKAS 4-Stage Clearance required before reoccupation.
✅Carried out by trained operatives with medical surveillance, fit-testing, and competence records.
✅Necessary when asbestos is likely to be disturbed in a manner that releases fibres or when the material is friable and in poor condition.

Non-Licensed Asbestos Work (NLW / NNLW) applies to:

✅Lower-risk materials such as asbestos cement sheets, gutters, floor tiles, bitumen adhesives, textured coatings (Artex), and small-scale AIB repairs (if intact and short duration).
✅May require NNLW notification to the HSE depending on the task, duration, and condition.
✅Does not necessitate a full enclosure; often managed with segregation, dust-suppression, and RPE/PPE controls.
✅Still requires trained operatives, appropriate PPE/RPE, and waste disposal, with controls proportionate to the risk.
