Set on the top floor in the heart of Manchester, this workspace was designed to feel both inspiring and deeply connected to its surroundings.

Positioned directly opposite the iconic John Rylands Library, the scheme takes cues from the richness, character and architectural detail of one of the city’s most recognisable landmarks, while also honouring the building’s own history as the Wood Street Mission. From material choices to layered detailing, the design was carefully considered to create a workspace that feels distinctive, characterful and rooted in place.

A project where history, context and function came together beautifully.

We’ve been on site this week at The Walton Building, formerly known as Hornby House - a building with a rich industrial past, once used as one of WHSmith’s main distribution centres. Now, a new chapter is underway, with a major redevelopment transforming the space into a collection of luxury short-stay apartments.

It’s always exciting to see historic buildings being thoughtfully reimagined for modern use, while retaining the character and story that make them so distinctive.

After two brilliant years in this space, we’re officially moving on.

This office has been the backdrop to so much growth, creativity and progress, and while it’s hard to say goodbye, we’re incredibly excited for what’s ahead.
