THE MACHINES BEHIND THE MEN

We’re always proud to shout about the people behind Dacol Engineering… but what about the machines behind them? 👀

Our shop floor is home to some seriously impressive kit:

⚙️ 2 x Haas VF-2SS
⚙️ Haas VF-3
⚙️ Haas Super Mini Mill
⚙️ Haas ST-20
⚙️ Haas ST-25

From milling to turning, these machines give our team the capability to produce high-quality, precision-engineered components for our customers day in, day out.

But as impressive as the machinery is, it still takes the knowledge, experience and skill of the people operating it to get the results.

So we thought it was about time our machines got a little bit of the limelight too! 📸

⚽️Networking, football and a familiar face at the Stags! 💛💙

On Thursday, Russ headed over to Mansfield Town Football Club for a brilliant 250 Club networking event.

The 250 Club is a fantastic way for local businesses to get behind the Stags, while also bringing people together to make new connections and support businesses across the area.

We had a great evening networking, catching up with familiar faces and meeting plenty of new ones.

And Russell was particularly pleased with his networking efforts… although we’re not sure meeting Lucas Akins counts as a new business lead! 😂⚽

As massive Mansfield Town fans, we’re really proud to be involved with the 250 Club and to see Dacol Engineering represented at the ground.

⚽ A proud moment for Team Dacol!

It’s no secret that we’re massive fans of Mansfield Town Football Club, so it was brilliant to see the Dacol name and logo going around the advertising boards at the ground on Saturday! 💙💛

There’s something pretty special about seeing your company name up there at the club you support. Safe to say, we were feeling very proud! 🙌

We love supporting our local community and local football, and we’re delighted to have the Dacol name on show at Mansfield Town.

The heat has definitely been testing us this week!
When the workshop feels more like a sauna than a factory, it’s easy to let the weather slow you down... but not here. 🔥🥵
Our team has kept going, machining parts, meeting deadlines, maintaining quality, and making sure every job leaves exactly as it should.
The fans have been working overtime, the cold drinks have been flowing, and there’s probably been a fair bit of moaning about the temperature too! 🔥
Behind every delivery is a team that takes pride in what they do, whatever the weather. Whether it’s 30°C or 3°C, our commitment to our customers stays exactly the same.
A huge thank you to everyone on the shop floor for digging deep this week. Your hard work doesn’t go unnoticed.
Stay cool, stay hydrated, and if you’re working through this heat too... we hope you’re managing to find a bit of shade when you can! 🖤

As a family business, we combine modern CNC capability with hands-on oversight and genuine accountability. Every job matters to us -whether it’s a small batch, a repeat order or a larger production run. We understand that when you place work with a subcontract partner, your placing trust in their ability to deliver accurately and on time.

Manufacturing doesn’t always come in neat, high-volume batches. Some jobs are 1 off. Some are repeat batches. Some require frequent changeovers and re-setting.  That’s part of our day-to-day operation.
At Dacol, we regularly take on work others sometimes pass on - shorter runs, frequent setups, and parts that still demand tight tolerances and consistent quality. Frequent changeovers aren’t a disruption to us – they are part of what we do.

This week, we're shining the spotlight on one of our CNC operators, Tom Jackson who is celebrating 5 Years with Dacol!
What's kept him here for half a decade?
Simple - no two days are the same.
One of the things he enjoys most about working at dacol is the variety the role brings. Rather than being tied to one machine or repeating the same job day in day out, he gets involved in a bit of everything. From medium production runs to smaller, more intricate jobs, every day brings a different challenge.
One day he might be working on the mini mill, the next day he's over on the lathe - and that's exactly how he likes it.
That flexibility and variety not only keep the job interesting, but also allow our machinists to continuously develop their skills across different machines, components, and projects. Its a big part of what makes our workshop such a dynamic place to work.
Reaching 5 years is a fantastic milestone, and were proud to have hardworking, adaptable team member like him as part of the Dacol team.

England when it hits 34 degrees:
“No one panic.”
Everyone panics. 🌞 🥵

Let’s be honest — most of us in the UK are built for drizzle, not desert temperatures. Working in this kind of heat can make even the simplest tasks feel twice as hard, especially for people working on-site, in warehouses, outdoors, or travelling between jobs.

A few reminders while we’re all melting together this week:

🫗 Stay hydrated
🧢 Take regular breaks where possible
🪭 Keep workspaces ventilated
🌞 Don’t underestimate the heat — it affects focus and energy more than we think

Check in on your team and colleagues
Productivity matters, but people matter more.

And if all else fails... an iced coffee and standing directly in front of a fan counts as a business strategy this week.

Another bank holiday weekend is nearly here... and if we’re honest, it can feel a little bit like a juggling act.

A shorter working week often means trying to squeeze five days of work into four, catching up on emails, deadlines, and schedules before and after the break. It’s easy to focus on the productivity side and see it as “losing” a day.
But there’s another side to it too…..

That extra day gives people time to reset, recharge, spend time with family and friends, and step away from the constant pace of work. And that matters.

Good mental health isn’t just about taking time off when things get difficult - it’s also about creating balance before we get to that point. Rest, downtime, and switching off are all part of performing at our best long term.
At the end of the day, it’s about balance.

Working hard is important, but so is taking the time to enjoy life outside of work too.

Mental health matters. And the truth is… every single one of us gets overwhelmed sometimes.

Work can be demanding. Deadlines build up, inboxes never stop, expectations feel high, and before you know it, stress starts creeping in.

The important thing to remember is that feeling overwhelmed doesn’t mean you’re failing. It means you’re human.

A few things that can really help when work starts to feel too much:
• Take a proper break away from your screen
• Prioritise what actually needs doing today
• Speak to someone instead of carrying it alone
• Get outside, even for 10 minutes
• Remember that not everything has to be perfect

We spend so much time looking after projects, clients, targets, and teams… but we also need to look after ourselves.

And sometimes the most productive thing you can do is pause, reset, and breathe.

Be kind to yourself and check in on the people around you too — you never know who might be struggling quietly. 🖤🖤
